Your roommate was being hella noisy this morning, taking your last hour of sleep away from you completely. Maybe you should move out. Maybe you should kick him out. Sure that would make things awkward at your workplace, since you did own a business together, but oh well.

Kim Namjoon should know better than to mess with your precious sleep cycle.

“Dude, what the fuck?”

“Ah, there she is.” Namjoon smiled as he saw your puffy and sleepy face. “Come help me.”

By your bedroom door you could already see the cause of all the noise. Your living room couch had been pushed to the opposite wall it was usually in, the pull-out-bed inside of it was ready to be slept in, minus the sheets and pillows. Those were on top of the coffee table; which had also been misplaced.

“What’s wrong with your bed?”

“Nothing. Why?” the big man that you called your best friend had the audacity to look confused.

As if he didn’t have a perfectly good bedroom, as if he needed to put together the couch-bed at six in the freaking morning. You’d need coffee if you had to deal with this morning person. Crossing the living room to reach your shared kitchen, you almost tripped on a few grocery bags on the floor.

Namjoon watched in amusement as you grumbled to yourself, probably cursing his third generation and offering his first born to a malignant entity. You were one of the sweetest people he had ever met, but he also knew you weren’t to be messed with before your caffeine fix. So he didn’t say anything until you returned five minutes later with a steamy cup of courage.

“Good?” he chuckled at your easy smile, turning back to the task he had at hand.

“Yeah. But I’ll be even better once you tell me why the sudden inspiration to redecorate our living room.”

“The sun hits the couch too much in the position it was in.” Namjoon explained as he measured the pull-out-bed before disassembling it again and pushing it inside the couch. “Pass the cushions back?”

You left the half-drunk mug at the coffee table to pick up the cushions and put them back on their original place. Namjoon sat on it after the couch was put together again and took a deep tired breath. His gym clothes and the bags in the kitchen told you he had been up and running for a while.

“My cousin will be staying with us for a while.” he finally explained. “That’s okay, right?”

“The one that will work with us?”

“Yeah.”

“That’s fine, as long as he doesn’t eat my stuff.” you reached for your mug again, sitting by his side.

“He won’t. He only eats like… Salad and healthy shit.”

Not so different from Namjoon then, you thought. At least it would mean your ice cream would be safe.

“Which cousin is it again?” your brows creased.

“You’ve met him before.”

“Yeah, I met all your cousins, your family is literally huge.”

You chuckled. Namjoon had been your best friend since the first year of high school, when you met and bonded over similar interests. Which meant you had been over to his house a lot, been dragged to countless family gatherings and met numerous of his family members.

So you’d need more than that.

“The one you kissed at his 14th birthday party?”

“Who the– Gukkie?!” your squeal was very unattractive, but that ship had sailed a long time ago.

“That’s the one.”

The boy was three years younger than you, so you were never friends, but Namjoon was particularly fond of him. Which of course meant you saw Jeongguk a lot growing up. You could remember his short and lanky frame, his big doe eyes and his bowl cut. He was very sweet, despite his shyness.

“Don’t say it like we made out or something.” you scoffed. “It was just a peck because boys were being mean to him.”

Namjoon laughed in amusement. “He had a crush on you, you know?”

“He did?!”

You had your suspicions, of course. With the way his stuttering and lisp got stronger every time you asked him a simple question, or how he always hid behind Namjoon whenever you came over to Joon’s house and Guk was there. And he could never look you in the eyes.

It was so endearing. You were excited to see him again.

“Yeah.” Namjoon laughed again. “Probably still does.”

“Please be careful with her.”

Half of your body was still inside your car as you pleaded with your best friend to take care of it.

“Oh my God, you have nothing to worry about!” Namjoon rolled his eyes. “Go to work, Moonie, we’ll be back soon.”

“Don’t Moonie me now.” you huffed, but inside you were melting. “Ugh, get out of here.”

“Works every time.”

You closed the door and watched Namjoon drive away with your car.

You would trust Namjoon with your life, but it still worried you to trust him with your keys. He passed his driving exams with flying colors, thanks to that big beautiful brain of his, but he only had his license for two months now, and your car was your baby.

But he needed it to pick up his cousin from the train station, and at least he dropped you off at work before doing so.

Mikrokosmos Prod. stood proud squeezed between a small neighborhood bakery and a children’s clothing shop. Not the best location to what –you hoped– would be one of the greatest indie music production companies, but the rent was cheap and it was only two blocks away from Gwangalli beach.

Punching in your code to the lock pad at the door you let yourself in. The lights were already on inside and the soft conversation you could hear coming from upstairs let you know the other two co-owners of MKP were already there.

As you expected, Yoongi was sitting –or slouching– at his desk, headphones over his head, and Hoseok was by the windows with his phone glued to his ear.

“I’ll change it, but I’ll have to charge a fine.” he spoke to whoever was on the phone. You waved at him, receiving a tired smile and a pointing finger towards your desk. “Half of the initial price. Company policy, I’m sorry.”

“He’s not sorry.” Yoongi gumbled in amusement as he watched you pass him. “We’ll either be left rich or clientless.”

“How many clients has Hobi lost us?” you asked, rhetorically of course. “Besides, we’re too good to go broke.”

Yoongi nodded, dropping his headphones around his neck. He turned his chair towards your desk, and you did a double take as you sat down. A week ago the man had dyed his hair a bright orange color on a whim. When he texted the group chat to inform everyone about his midlife crisis you thought it would look awful.

But he looked so fucking hot.

And, based on the smirk he was wearing right now, he knew it too.

“Where’s Namjoon-ah?” Hoseok asked as the call ended and he sat down.

“He’s picking up Guk.”

“Who?” Yoongi had a weird and curious look on his face.

“The new guy.”

You explained as you stored your bag inside one of your many drawers and woke up your sleeping computer.

“And you’re already on nickname bases with him?” Hoseok laughed, sending Yoongi a quick look over his own screen.

“Turns out we’ve met before.”

You knew the boys trusted Namjoon’s judgment, so no one batted an eye when he said his little cousin would be joining MKP as an apprentice. But they were curious, so you told them about the ‘new guy’.

“He’s very smart, dedicated too. He used to make these comic books instead of paying attention to class? I remember mamma Moon talking about him getting in trouble for it.” you absentmindedly told them as you collected all the post-it notes glued to your screen; the ones Hoseok had been pointing at before. “Small kid, bowl cut, big nose, even bigger eyes. Cute tho.”

Both boys made listening noises, already going back to focus on their work.

“I don’t know all the details yet, but he’ll be staying with Joon and I for a while.”

Yoongi’s chair creaked as he regarded you with yet another curious glance. Didn’t Namjoon tell them anything? Well. You were his roommate and you only found out this morning, so maybe he was really bad at communicating in general.

He should really work on that.

The morning passed quickly, as it usually did. By nine am you had put your hair up and your glasses on, eyes getting used to the many bars on your screen as your head bobbed to the song you were revising. By ten am, Namjoon had texted you he was taking Jeongguk home to leave his bags and shower and he’d be at Mikrokosmos soon. By eleven am, Hoseok had to go downstairs to oversee a recording session for one of your many local artists. Leaving you and Yoongi alone.

That was always dangerous.

With a click to your keyboard, Yoongi saved your work and pulled you away from your desk. Your headphones were gone next and before you knew it, you were being pulled to his lap.

“I’m working!” you said, without much of a bite to your tone.

“I can see that.”

It wasn’t fair the way your body reacted to the deep tone of his voice, or to the rumble of his chest on your back. If you loved or hated how you molded nicely into him, you didn’t know. Yoongi’s hand slipped under your shirt; not too high, just enough to touch the skin of your waist. His hand was always cold and he did it on purpose to make you hiss.

“Yoongi.”

“Mhm.”

His lips were on your neck the next second, your eyes darting to the stairs. It was rare that clients ever came up there, unless there was a meeting scheduled, but you could never be too sure. But unfortunately for your sanity, Yoongi’s lips felt too damn good and he knew all of your sweet spots.

“Hobi going over to yours tonight?” you breathlessly asked as he mouthed at your skin.

“Hmm. Wanna join us?”

“I’ll let you boys have your fun.” your eyes closed as you felt his tongue lick around your ear, so you turned to face him, lips almost touching as your arm rested around his shoulders.

“It’s always more fun with you.”

Yoongi’s lips captured your bottom one as his hand traveled up and down your thigh. You were trying really hard to keep them closed, so you didn’t notice the little moan that escaped your lips.

“Don’t let him hear you say that.”

“He’d agree.”

With Yoongi’s last words and parted lips, you kissed him. He loved to tease a reaction out of you and it never failed him. But everything about Yoongi was intoxicating; from his masculine but not overbearing scent, to his determined touch and the taste of his lips.

It was easy to get carried away and lost in him. Especially when his tongue pushed past your lips to chase yours. You knew damn well all it could do.

“For fucks sake, you two!”

Namjoon’s voice made you jump off of Yoongi’s lap like a child who just got caught doing something she shouldn’t. It’s not as if he didn’t know about you and Yoongi, the poor thing had walked in on much much worse. But to Joon, the workplace was a sacred place.

“Sorry, Gukah.” the man apologized.

“Oh.” your hand was whipping at your lips as you looked at your friend and his cousin standing by the stairs. “Jeongguk?!”

You would have been more embarrassed if you weren’t so shocked at seeing the younger man standing there. Because, unlike the last time you had seen him six years ago, that’s exactly what he was. A man.

Jeongguk was so tall now! Just a few centimeters from reaching Joon’s height. He was swallowed by oversized clothing, but you could still tell he had muscles, long gone was that lanky kid. His hair didn’t have that childish bowl cut anymore, instead, it was long, a little wavy from the Busan salt air, and dyed blue. His black roots were already showing, but instead of looking careless, it looked even better.

“Hi, noona.” the man smiled. At least he still had that bunny smile you recognized.

Was he really looking in your eyes?

“Is that the ‘cute kid’ that is gonna be living with you?” if you didn’t know Yoongi, you’d say he sounded annoyed.

“Oh, he grew.” you looked back at the orange haired man. “But still cute.”

You thought seeing Jeongguk again would be awkward, but he hugged you back when you greeted him, and you both ignored Namjoon’s judging eyes. Granted, they were more aimed at Yoongi than at you.

“Will you show Guk around, Moonie?”

“You got it.” you were nodding as you pulled the new man by the sleeve of his shirt. “Let's start downstairs.”

"Hyung still uses that nickname for you?" Jeongguk asked as you rushed down the stairs to the first floor.

"Only when he wants something."

Mikrokosmos Prod. wasn't so big, but it was yours (and Joon's, Yoongi’s and Hobi's), and you loved it very much. You showed the new apprentice where the kitchen was, as well as the bathroom and rest area. Then you moved to the studios, taking him inside the one that wasn't being used by Hobi and a client.

"Hoseok is the people person of the group. He's the one who will deal with whoever comes to record in the house, the studio manager, so to speak." you told him.

Not that he was properly listening in the first place, doe eyes sparkling with wonder as he studied the studio.

"Do you know what all these are for?" Jeongguk asked as his fingers pushed a couple buttons on the table.

Oh, he had knuckle tattoos now?

"Yeah." you laughed lightly, entertained by his curiosity. "You will too."

"And what does your– Uhm. The one with the red hair do?"

"That's Yoongi. He's my other half." at least workwise, of course. "We take care of the heavier production, after the lyrics are done and recorded. While I'm more on the creative side, Yoon is technical. He knows what sells, and I know what sounds cool."

"Woaaah."

Now he looked a little more like the Jeongguk you remembered. Amazed at the simplest things, thinking you were the coolest person.

"And hyung?"

He asked as you left the studio to go back upstairs.

"Joon is our main lyricist. He also makes sure everyone is on top of their deadlines, he manages the whole company."

"He said I'd be working with him."

"You can work with whatever you like best." you told him. "Nothing is set in stone, we can all do everything."

That was the best part about working with friends, on something you were all equally good at. Each had their own strengths, but it was easy to fluctuate between the steps and the job. Sure there were times you wanted to strangle one another, but at the end of the day you were grateful for each other.

“That’s Yoongi at his desk.” you told Jeongguk the obvious as you made it back to the office space on the second floor. “My desk is next to his.”

“Nice to meet you, hyung.” the boy bowed politely and Yoongi merely waved in acknowledgement.

He didn’t seem to be in a good mood, you’d make sure to ask him if Joon gave him a hard time for your little makeout.

“The table in front of mine is where Hoseok’s is and then Joon’s.” you said. “You don’t really have a space yet, so you can just grab a chair and put it where you want it.”

“You’ll meet Hobah once he’s left the studio, Guk.” Namjoon called for his cousin. “You can sit at his place for now and watch me for the day?”

This would be fun, you thought. Having someone new in the team. It’s been just the four of you for so long, you were excited about what the boy could bring into your life.
