The circle is complete. Almost. Hopefully I can get the final versions up before thanksgiving.

If 2s think well of themselves, then how can Jessie be a 2? I remember you mentioned that he is a 2, and I thought so too, but it doesn't add up a bit (all his struggle and guilt after Jane's death and other)

This is good stuff, I’m reading over it before I release the final version and adding some things - thank you!

Awesome, my type :), just one note: appearing welcoming or affectionate is merely one among many strategies that can be employed by a plethora of types; E2 isn't limited to this tactic to elicit reciprocity. E2s, in fact, often don't feel any intrinsic need to please others as long as they can move their passion of Pride forward. They need exaltation, reciprocity, and to attract others. Often times this is evoked through people-pleasing because that can be and is very effective, but it can just as well be through a highly intellectual or authoritative image. The point of note is that, for the E2, deep down, it's about themselves. In fact, they often don't experience themself as dependent on others because a big part of 2's is their inability to ask for love directly (or even admitting to themself that they need others). They feel that they must bring love to them through seduction, flattery, etc. because they feel that **if they have to ask for something, it means they don't deserve it.** Comparison with E3 and E1: "The passion of the E3 is that of vanity, which is also the parent passion of E2, and entails using an image to falsify the perception of the self. The E2 becomes vain as soon as it engages this image in order to make themselves appear larger than life, but differs in their non-reliance on accepted standards of success, and perceives their worth as self-evident. On the other hand, there is an adjacence to E1, more obviously represented in the E2's defense mechanism, repression. In E1 the search for love is manifested as a search for respect ("If I am perfect I am lovable"), and in E2 the search for love is a search for intimacy ("If I am limitless I am lovable"). In both there is a repression of needs and what is truly natural. When the E1 represses the impulse to pleasure, they become "perfect," when the E2 represses the impulse for neediness, they become "lovable"; both express the idea that "I am good, therefore I am entitled to love.""

Yeah he calls her “mother,” its a scorned child thing

You could definitely make a case for them representing the stereotypical extremes yeah. Or at least the cultural expectations

Enneagram is the cheat codes >:)

I actually think twos can be very traditionally masculine! The idea of fatherhood and patriarchy, of the man who provides for everyone financially and expects obedience and love as a “thank you” for that is perfect for the two. I’ve also seen it in my own family, with male relatives who use their excess of money to give their family gifts, whether their family wants it or not, and then expect emotional gifts aka being loved and respected in return for their material gifts. If their family no longer depends on them, they’ve lost their worth and their masculinity.

This just helped me organize a really disjointed character in one fell swoop. Lol. Amazing how that works

Wonder if there's anything to the idea that the 8 complex represents the widespread cultural notion of toxic masculinity while the 2 complex represents toxic femininity.

It's probably cuz of the audio from the clip but it's super hard to understand what they guy is saying at 5:40

codifierbehemoth

I love how 2’s seem so wholesome on the surface but can be truly selfish at their core. So much self deception and potential for drama.

Straps-of-skin

Yeah different mic haha, I’ll try to match it better

Small audio dip around 1:42
