Petra

This was the first image of her I ever did, (even before her name was decided by via poll!) and it was well enough received on tumblr that its note count became the benchmark to aim for with the future drawings of her to come.
Petra was essentially born from the realisation that I didn't really have any overly fit or muscular designs in my character roster, and I wanted to see what would happen if I gave it a shot. At the same time I was trying to think of types of monster people I had yet to tackle, and so as usual I fell back onto greek mythology for inspiration. I hadn't really seen many gorgon designs around and it seemed to fit with the athletic body type, so like a caveman banging rocks together I mashed the two ideas to create the "athletic gorgon" character you see above.
