Her head definitely was in the wrong space, but I don't understand a mom being heartless! Why wasn't the landlord looking to clean up & re-rent the apt? Alivia may have been discovered sooner if they did. So disturbingly sad!

People living in those conditions are more likely to be on government assistance, no not everyone or every time. But how many of these houses left in such a state are people on assistance? I just dont leave that much stuff around when I've moved from a place. Only wonder because im not in the states and I dont know anyone that is on our systems. The fact that the mother's sister works for DCFS is just the wild part for me.
