It's kind of shocking how many times I've seen this movie. It didn't click for me until October, 2024. In fact- it's one of the very first franchise slasher films I'd ever seen. I saw it on USA Network in, like, 1993. By that time, I'd only ever seen - maybe - Friday the 13th Part 3. I re-watched it on blu-ray in 2024 and I adored every minute of it. How had I sat through it more than 10 times and never loved it before?

So much fun. Skip 3. It’s not about Michael Myers.

I kinda wish they'd let John Carpenter do the Halloween movies as an anthology like he originally intended. Each movie was supposed to be it's own thing. Not just Michael Myers the whole time. Because part 3 does it's own thing and it's actually pretty good.

Respectfully, Halloween is not my favorite horror franchise (I’ve only seen 1-3 and never cared to return), but Halloween 2 was the first I’d seen of them and is my personal favorite. It’s also part of a trilogy of slasher films I watched as a kid that cemented my irrational fear of small town hospitals, which include Visiting Hours (do not recommend as it’s pretty bad when I rewatched it), and X-Ray. Honorable mention to the thriller, Coma, as well.
Now that you’ve been through the first two Halloweens featuring her, it’s time to complete the Jamie Lee Curtis 80s horror saga with The Fog, Terror Train, and my beloved Prom Night.

Samhain (not pronounced the same as it's spelled) is the original Celtic festival that the Catholic church took over as All Hallow's Eve, i.e. Halloween. It is the night when the barrier between worlds is at its weakest and the dead can visit our world.

I agree with Ashleigh seeing Halloween 3. I scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
She likes scary in all forms. 🎃

Just a heads up in case you didn't already know. the next Halloween movie Halloween 3: Season of the Witch has NOTHING to do with Michael Myers, Michael Myers comes back in Halloween 4.(although Halloween 2 is the last time you'll see Jamie Lee Curtis for a good long while) That being said, Halloween 3 is still worth a watch in my opinion, very entertaining and scary. People didn't like it very much when it first come out because evreyone was upset that Michael Myers wasn't in it, but fortunately more people nowadays are giving it a chance.

Just casually, since others have pointed it out, The Last Starfighter would be a fun watch. In the Star Wars era, it tries to be May the Force Be With You while including some scenes and creature effects to make it May The Force Terrify Your Ass.
Is this as good as the original? No, but it’s behind only Friday the 13th Pt 2 as a horror sequel. It’s a good fun ride, good jump scares and some good kills.

The next entry,”Halloween 3:Season Of The Witch” is completely separate from the Michael Myers universe. It was intended to be the start of an anthology series since MM is supposed to have died in H2. Audiences didn’t buy it obviously. It is a fun movie though. Michael was brought back in “Halloween 4”.
