Chapter 32: Cicin mage

The Fatui started engaging us carrying swords, spears, and knives. Jean went forward and engaged them. Using anemo energy she coats her blade with wind and starts slashing at the Fatui guards

“Yah!”

Multiple guards fell to her onslaught. She gathered wind to her blade and started compressing it. When it was fully compressed she sent it towards a group of guards blowing them away. The guards hit the wall rendering them unconscious. I also jumped in and backed up Jean. I sent blasts of ice toward the Fatui, freezing them in place.

“Take this!”

“Ah!” the guards screamed in agony

I then came close to them and started to fight in close quarters. They charged up at me as well and swung their weapons at me. I was easily able to block them as the Freezing Bear armor was durable. I shrugged their weapons off and started hitting them like a bear swinging his arms. My arms had a lot of power behind them so the guards were at my mercy and unable to block them. I was calm when facing these guards as they were no match for me, my attention was on the Cicin mage as she was the most dangerous and the only one who could deal damage to me. Jean was still dominating on her side with her vision and experience. The Cicin mage started to move and sent bats shaped with electro energy.

“Jean! Look out!”

The bats went for Jean and she was a step late to react. I moved and stood between her and the bats, blocking most of them. I felt electricity shocking me each time the bats hit

“AAH!”

I felt a bit numb but I powered through still focusing on the Cicin mage

“Jun are you okay?”

“I’m fine, just a bit numb.”

“Hahaha! I’m surprised you’re fine after taking that. I guess the intel was right to not underestimate you.” the Cicin mage taunted

“You know about me.” I was surprised the Fatui had intel about me since I just started a little less than a month ago

“Of course, the armored warrior defeating the camps of hilichurls would get our attention. We also heard you managed to defeat a Hypostasis with ease and with your recent clash with Stormterror you’re danger level has risen.”

“I would have preferred if you called me a Kamen Rider instead of an armored warrior but I guess I’m getting popular. I joked to shake off the nerves and buy some time for me to recover

“You won’t be laughing after I’m done with you!” The mage sent more bats and lighting towards us. We evaded them as they exploded in our previous position. She sent more toward us and so I blasted ice toward the bats and lighting negating them. Jean created a wind barrier around her which made her manage to block the incoming attack. She was a tough foe and knowing she could teleport puts us at a disadvantage. I rushed at her while I was shooting icicles at her. She dodged them with ease while also shooting down some icicles with lighting. I got close to her and tried to turn the fight into a melee but she teleported away a good distance. Luckily Jean anticipated this and was now behind her

“What!” The Cicin mage was caught off guard. Jean, not letting go of this chance, slashed at her multiple times. The mage tried to block Jean but was unable to and took many hits. Her bodysuit couldn't take any more damage leaving her suit ripped and with Jean’s sword, she got injured leaving a cut that made her bleed.

“Aah!” The mage screamed and she failed to notice I was behind her. I gave her a few good hits before I knocked her back a good distance. Deciding now is the time to end this, I pressed the side of my driver to the finisher

[Freezing Impact!]

I sent a massive blizzard toward the Cicin Mage and she tried to shoot back with electro lighting. The forces were in a stalemate for a moment before I gave it my all pushing the blizzard to the mage

“Haaaa!”

[Freezing Impact!]

The Cicin mage got covered in ice making her frozen. Jean went forward and gathered a large amount of anemo energy into her sword. She stabbed her sword into the ice encasing the mage. The ice cracked and a massive amount of wind burst out of the ice destroying ice and sending the Cicin mage back hitting the wall and cracking it. She slumped down to the floor unconscious

“Hah…hah…hah…”

Jean and I breathed a sigh of relief that the battle was over. We relaxed a bit but still being wary of our surroundings

“Are you okay Jun?”

“Yeah, a bit tired but give me a few minutes I’ll be fine.”

“Right… I should also rest. That battle has drained me as well. We should move after a bit of rest.”

“No problems with that.”

Jean and I rested for a bit to gather our breath. Meanwhile Lumine’s group

“Do you think Jun and Jean are okay?”

“I’m sure they are fine, Jean is strong and she is the Acting Grandmaster and Jun is not weak either. He always seems to have more tricks up his sleeves,” said Diluc

“I guess you’re right. Amber?” Lumine sees Amber worried and not her usual energetic self

“Amber, are you okay?”

“Huh? Yeah, I’m fine…”

“You don’t seem fine, are you worried about Jun?”

“... Yeah I just can’t help but worry about him. We are separated and inside enemy territory. We don’t know what else will happen when we go in deeper”

“Believe in him, Amber. Jun is stubborn but keeps his promises. He’ll be safe.” said Diluc

“Umm…”

The group ventured deeper into the domain to find the lyre, before arriving in a massive hall with a massive gate at the end
