Becoming the Strongest as a Game Dev Ch 116

Outside the walls of Jade City, a team of experienced Hunters tracks their prey through the dense foliage. The leader, a seasoned warrior named Astra, raises her hand, signaling the others to halt. Her keen senses detect the movement of their target, a pack of ravenous Ravagers.

Astra turns to her team, her voice calm and authoritative. "Alright, listen up. We've got a pack of Ravagers up ahead. Stay sharp and watch each other's backs."

The other Hunters nod in understanding, gripping their weapons tightly. Astra's second-in-command, a young woman named Kira, takes position to the left, her bow at the ready.

Suddenly, the Ravagers emerge from the shadows, their razor-sharp claws and gnashing teeth bared. The Hunters spring into action, their coordinated attacks cutting down the beasts one by one.

Astra deftly weaves between the Ravagers, her sword flashing as she delivers precise strikes. Kira rains down a barrage of arrows, her aim true and deadly. The remaining Hunters, Liam and Ren, provide support, using their firearms and elemental magic to overwhelm the monsters.

Despite the Ravagers' ferocity, the Hunters' teamwork and experience prove to be the deciding factor. As the last Ravager falls, the Hunters take a moment to catch their breath, their eyes scanning the area for any lingering threats.

Astra nods approvingly, her gaze sweeping over her team. "Well done, everyone. That was a clean take-down."

Kira grins, her eyes alight with the thrill of battle. "Thanks, Astra. Couldn't have done it without the team."

Liam, a burly man with a gruff demeanor, chuckles. "Yeah, teamwork makes the dream work, as they say."

Ren, a slender and nimble Hunter, nods in agreement. "We make a pretty good squad, don't we?"

Astra allows a small smile to grace her lips. "That we do. Now, let's get these Ravagers back to the city and collect our bounty."

The Hunters gather the fallen beasts and begin the trek back to Jade City, their camaraderie and trust in one another evident in their easy banter and coordinated movements.

The Hunters suddenly hear a rumbling noise and can see a hoard of monsters running towards them. Astra's eyes widen as she takes in the sheer number of beasts barreling in their direction.

"Run!" she shouts, her voice cutting through the chaos. "Get to safety, now!"

The group springs into action, their previous camaraderie replaced by a desperate need to survive. Kira nocks an arrow, her hands trembling slightly, as Liam and Ren flank her, their weapons at the ready.

Astra ushers the others forward, her gaze sweeping the area for the quickest escape route. "This way!" she calls, leading them down a winding path through the dense foliage.

The Hunters run, their lungs burning as they push their bodies to the limit. Astra glances back, her heart sinking as she watches some of her team members fall behind, unable to keep up with the frantic pace.

"No!" she cries, but there's nothing she can do. The hoard is closing in, their thunderous roars echoing through the forest.

Astra turns back, her focus solely on reaching safety. The remaining Hunters follow her lead, their footsteps pounding against the soft earth.

Suddenly, a massive creature emerges from the hoard, its maw gaping wide. Kira releases her arrow, but it bounces harmlessly off the beast's thick hide. Liam and Ren unleash a barrage of attacks, but they too prove ineffective.

"Keep moving!" Astra shouts, her voice laced with desperation. "We can't fight them all!"

The Hunters redouble their efforts, their lungs burning as they push themselves to the limit. But as they run, Astra can't help but wonder how this hoard of diverse monsters could have amassed so suddenly. It's unnatural, a sign that something is terribly wrong.

The healers in the group tend to the injured Hunters, their brows furrowed with concern. Astra watches them, her mind racing as she tries to make sense of the situation.

"How could this happen?" she murmurs, her gaze sweeping over the weary, battered faces of her team. "What could have drawn so many different monsters together?"

The Hunters look to her for answers, their eyes filled with a mixture of fear and trust. Astra knows she must find a way to protect them, to uncover the truth behind this unexpected attack. But for now, all she can do is ensure their survival and regroup.

Astra's eyes widen as one of the Hunters points out that the monsters seem to be heading in a straight line towards Jade City. Another Hunter confirms this, noting the ominous direction of their march.

"We have to warn Jade City," Astra says, her voice firm. "If these monsters reach the city, the consequences could be disastrous."

The Hunters nod in agreement, their expressions grim. Astra quickly calculates the marching speed of the creatures, her brow furrowing.

"According to our estimates, the monsters will reach Jade City in less than a week," she announces. "We need to move quickly if we're to get there in time."

The Hunters spring into action, their fatigue forgotten as they prepare to embark on their perilous journey. Astra takes the lead, her mind racing as she considers the best route to Jade City and the potential obstacles they may face along the way.

As they set out, the Hunters maintain a brisk pace, their footsteps echoing through the dense forest. Astra keeps a watchful eye on their surroundings, alert for any signs of the monster hoard or other potential threats.

The journey is arduous, with the Hunters having to navigate treacherous terrain and fend off occasional attacks from smaller, scattered creatures. But their determination never wavers, fueled by the knowledge that the fate of Jade City hangs in the balance.

As they draw closer to the city, the Hunters begin to encounter signs of the monster hoard's approach. Fallen trees, trampled vegetation, and the occasional creature that has strayed from the main group serve as ominous reminders of the impending danger.

Astra's heart pounds as they finally catch sight of the towering walls of Jade City in the distance. They have made it, but the real challenge now lies in convincing the city's authorities to take their warning seriously and prepare for the imminent attack.
