New York knows how to make coffee.
Seattle has Starbucks, but NYC has the love — in the form of small cafe owners and baristas that pour their souls into the cups. Ok, not all baristas are like that. Some just show up for a paycheck. BUT, I think coffee is still better in New York.
And my favorite is…. Devoción. They have three branches in NYC and I’ve been to all. When I was working in Downtown Brooklyn, I used to “have a meeting” mid-day and worked on my laptop in the Downtown Brooklyn cafe. Their cafe felt like a mini jungle with all the plants they had. The atmosphere was as comforting as their coffee (when it’s not crowded). And it’s not so crowded mid-day on a weekday.
It’s hard to put a finger on what makes Devoción’s coffee my favorite. It could be the beans, the crema, the atmosphere, or a combination of all. Either way, this is the spot for good coffee.
