New York Blog #18 - Vegan Food + Great Music

The whole time I’ve been in New York, my observation has been that it’s easier to be vegan than sober in this city. Alcohol has been the social glue from parties to work to hanging out with roommates. Alcohol is a whole other topic on its own.

Since plant-based eating has gotten mainstream, purely vegan restaurants have been popping up. A hip and chic place that I visited this summer was Public Records in Gawanus (borderline Boerum Hill) in Brooklyn. Their entire menu is plant-based and their name delivers on music and atmosphere. There are nights when they have a live DJ spinning records.

As far as alcohol goes, their cocktails are some of the best I’ve had in a very long while. Again, it’s easier to be vegan than sober.
