“Because mother said so”
Added 2023-05-29 00:29:17 +0000 UTCThat’s what I titled the file of this sketch 😭 I really just wanted to draw something that represented how Chrisander exists for his mother. This is showing when it is he cut his lovely long hair. Just before he graduated highschool, his mother told him to cut his hair cos a more curated and neat appearance would be beneficial for socializing with his future college mates. Mates he will then direct to his mother’s then-burgeoning business so she can get their parents in as investors or smthn. Now Chris’ hair… is deeply important to him. He’s had it long since he was a kid, and while he’d trim and thin it occasionally, he’s ALWAYS had It long. It’s soothing to him, brushing it at the end of the day. Something that brings him comfort and peace. But his mother said it must go.
And so, it went.

Right 😭😭 it IS pretty tragic when you think about it. He does! For a long time Chris wondered if he actually existed. Like him as a person. His hair was integral in his personhood cos he could brush it and style it the way he wanted whenever. He did go through a noticeable change after it was gone tho. Like something died in him 😭 it’s difficult, cos his mom doesn’t always explicitly tell him what to do. He’s very smart as he is, but he dies utilize that intelligence for her. So while she doesn’t necessarily micromanage him, everything he does, he does to benefit her or his little brother in some way

2023-05-29 04:14:42 +0000 UTCA perfect name for this... I couldn't live like that, doing things to myself at the request of other people. Does he feel a bit like a zombie, like he doesn't need to think anymore because anyway his mom (or someone else) is going to tell him what to do?
