What I was thinking about here, was Asta’s… hyperindependence. They have this idea in their head that no matter whatever situation they’re in, they have to figure it out without anyone’s help. That’s just how they think they have to do things. Because they can’t trust the goodwill of people who’d help them. What guarantee is there that they won’t come calling and demand something that you can’t give as payback?
Asta doesn’t think of this way of thinking as bad. They can’t think of anything wrong with it at all! But in the first part of the journey with Erasyl, they found themselves accepting help from Erasyl little by little. I mean… let me not lie, Erasyl had to draft up an agreement that no matter what it is he decides to do, he won’t come calling back on it. He did all this cos he wanted to give Asta a more comfortable shirt (the one they had is made of coarser material) but Asta simply wouldn’t take it 😭
Anyway, this image will be during the second part, when Era comes back and he’s distraught cos everything went wrong in so many ways and the first thing he wants to do is help Asta get out of their situation, yet Asta refuses again and again. To be fair, after Era, they trusted someone and that someone get them into this so they have very very very many problems with people doing things for them. But don’t worry, eventually they will come to terms that their situation is not ideal and that they need help to get out. It’ll be a gigantic leap of faith tho 💀 I’m talking continental-size leap for them
