It’s been a while since I’ve written here. It’s already July. What have I done since I last wrote…I enrolled for cooking classes. Picked up kickboxing again. I love our home, but it is so quiet, I thought I’d lose my mind in it. I had to get out more, and what better way to do that than to dust off old skills and build new ones? Cooking classes have been surprisingly fun. There are many ladies there, and they are all delightful. I’ve made quick friends with them, and now I’m in a reading club that they formed not too long ago. We got our nails done yesterday. I had to settle for a simple manicure because of kickboxing, but I think my nails look phenomenal. Speaking of, kickboxing is equally fun. Moving my body about is so rewarding. Not as rewarding as punching people in the face, however. That is an electric feeling, I must say. My coach keeps asking me to make amateur matches my goal. I don’t know, maybe. I love fighting and all, but I’m almost thirty-one, surely I can’t be getting into it at this age. Well…maybe, actually. I’ll think about it.

Anyway, I have been helping Peach Pie with his grant. Just the wording and what not, of course. It has been nice, taking a little time to ponder over the delicate dance of asking people to pretty please open up their pockets. In the process, he explained to me more about his work, which has been nice. Watching him talk about his passion has been nice. Well, except the physics bit. I–for the life of me–cannot wrap my head around physics. Oh right, he will be going for a conference on the fourth. It will be the first in a long time, but I think he’ll enjoy himself a lot.

Well, other than that, I cannot say anything interesting has happened. Peach still enjoys late nights at the lab and working long hours. I think he’s been eating well, doing wonderful with his health, and he is happy. I think that we are doing better. I wish I could tear out that damned first entry and throw it in the bin, but I do want to look at it again when our ten-year anniversary comes around and laugh at how dramatic I was. Well, until then!

My goodness, I underestimated this reading club. Elise suggested a book that she said was “great fun”.

I should have expected they’d suggest such a…an interesting piece of literature.

Peach Pie left for the conference today. I drove him to the airport, and that was the first time I met more of his colleagues. They all seemed like lovely people. There were only four people going. Peach, the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Miss Young.

And Dr. Jayce Talis. Peach wasn’t looking forward to the plane ride (he never does) but I told him I have an interesting book for him to read if he needed to take his mind off everything :) enjoy, my love!

He called when the plane landed and said he would bite my shins when he returned.

He came back from his conference at noon yesterday. I picked him up from the airport, and we made a stop at a nice little outdoor restaurant for some food. I thought he would be more excited to share what he did on his trip with me. The people he met, how the hotel was, the food he tried, the ideas he heard, the inspiration he felt. I asked, that I did. Yet he felt distant, deep in thought. I am sure he’s just tired. Travelling is very taxing, I understand. So we went home, and he spent the rest of the afternoon and then evening in his office. We had dinner, we went to sleep, and he went to work bright and early. He is just tired, I think.
