At a family Hanukkah lunch at his dad and step-momβs house, his siblings talked about how -theyβd screwed up their proposals.- I quietly said to my fiance, βSee? Theyβre -werenβt- perfect.β D got everyoneβs attention and proposed right then and there. It turned out to be the last time weβd celebrate Hanukkah in the family home. We were 50 and 55 at the time. Being neurodivergent, neither of us had found our just right person up until weβd started dating a year before.

We walked around downtown by the riverfront. He had me sit down by on a rock by a river and proposed, telling me about the dates we had went on and how much I meant to him. It was one of the happiest nights of my life. My words do not do him justice.

On my knee I had her kiss a little toy frog with her eyes closed and when she opened her eyes there was the ring. Right in front of the castle at Disneyworld. I told her it was for a little video I was making for a friend's kid. Had Andrea's sister filming it.
