Boxing Day is also St Stephen's Day (as in the first Christian martyr). And since Stephen was one of the men that the apostles got to distribute money to the poor, Boxing Day is the day that churches traditionally opened up the alms boxes to distribute money to the poor as well. It occurred to me directly after that I have no idea what types of holidays people celebrate in England except that I have heard of boxing day - but that is only because the Beatles magical mystery tour was played on boxing day and it was a huge letdown at the time. (Huge Beatles fan). So, Happy Day to you.
