Very Important Update!

Things they are a-changin', and you need to know about it!

(There will be some kind of public video at some point too, but for now, here's the reasonably short version.)

TL;DR: More videos, different focus, (more stage combat related movie videos, in short), updated Patreon tiers with more content, and in general, trying to make this YouTube thing viable as an actual job.

Wish me luck.

Hey! I too was a little worried when you said you'd been shattered for the last eight months, but this sounds like a positive (albeit scary) change. Good luck with everything!

Good luck with trying out this Youtube thing full time!! For stage combat I think looking at older movies like Errol Flynn Robin Hood era could be fun/interesting such as how the styles have changed over the years. Or the Princess Bride duel could be fun. Can't wait to come along for this new chapter, seems like yesterday you decided to try out the Patreon thing.

@Anders I had the same thoughts regarding her statement of the last 8 months. I was just watching, listening with Dread thinking "oh, God, no. Please not a divorce."

Best wishes to you!

More Jill is absolutely a wonderful thing, and I look forward to seeing that! You do seem really into the whole stage combat thing, and I have to say it is an interesting perspective on things to hear your analysis after actually participating in such things, such as your most recent Star Wars video, so getting more things in a similar vein is certainly something that I’ll look forward to! As long as you aren’t overworking yourself, you’re enjoying what you do, and you strike a good balance between all the things in your life, I feel like you’ll do just fine. Making the YouTube thing a bigger part of your work life, especially if you make it big (which I believe you can, for sure), sounds like an amazing opportunity, especially as a big fan, if your analytics support the idea that you’ll get more and more viewers and engagement, I’d be inclined to agree! The prospect of seeing more of your process is also interesting, it’s probably one of the things I like best about Patreon, creators who engage with their audience and show them what they do as they do it. You’ve done a great job at that over time, and you’ll continue to be even better at it I’m sure. I wish you the best!

Good luck! Having this work out sounds like a real possibility. I love your videos and I really want you to be able to make decent living off of them.

Good to hear. I just watched "Marriage Story", and man... that was brutal. I had to watch it in portions.

Anders

True fact: my teacher Duncan’s favourite movie fight, bar none, is the duel at the end of Rob Roy. And thank you. No, no divorces here! Just generalised exhaustion from Doing All The Things 😁

"We have such sights to show you." For a moment there you had me really scared. When you said you had been shattered for eight months I thought you were going through a divorce. Phew! This sounds great. You should look up "Rob Roy", which not only is an excellent movie (with Liam Neeson as manly Scottish man and Tim Roth as a psychopathic man-child) but also has a great duel at the end.

Anders

I have faith in you. Everything will be fine. :-)

Thanks :)

Good Luck! Be blessed! Definitely pursue this because you are good at it and you have a voice. It is wonderful to hear you are putting your daughter first. Enjoy this time with her. My oldest son was four just yesterday and now he's 20. And it literally feels like only a couple of years. The new tier structure sounds excellent! Personally I love the idea of seeing scripts and bloopers, any behind the scenes making of type of thing. some people don't like behind the scenes making of type of special features because they feel it destroys the magic of the final product. I feel quite the opposite and enhances it to see the journey but I love production. It's nice to see somebody do something that is good and to be able to support it. To quote you from your Galaxy quest review, Believe!

Thank you. It's a bit terrifying, but hopefully in a motivating way?

Luck!
