Are Those Metal Underpants? An Armour Review

Hello Early Bears! I hope you enjoy this armour review, and that you're having a great week. The weather here is beautiful and we have finally completed a niggling house project that's been bugging me since we moved in (several years ago) so I'm feeling good. Also next week I'm learning to fall from heights onto big squishy mats, so, er...pray for my safety, because...it's me. I can be accident-prone.

$5+ Patrons, remember we're live-streaming on Saturday at 1600 BST (that's GMT+1).

Are Those Metal Underpants? An Armour Review

The moment I saw Camilla was there, I immediately got the metaphorical popcorn. Anyway. My gift to you is Zelda from Hyrule Warriors (not Age of Calamity, that Zelda doesn't even pretend to wear anything more than normal clothes): https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/b/b1/Hyrule_Warriors_-_Zelda_Artwork.png/revision/latest?cb=20160516014212 She comes with a magic rapier, a magic baton, and a magic rod. But the latter two are unlocked later. For the sake of comparison, have a few other characters as evidence that SOME people wear armour - but only some: Link (lots of weapons, but classically sword and board) - https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/2/2a/Link_Hyrule_Warriors.png/revision/latest?cb=20140620205907 Ganondorf (dual swords like a ranger) - https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/dynastywarriors/images/9/95/Ganondorf_-_HW.png/revision/latest?cb=20161224191926 Impa (iaijitsu-style samurai) - https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/4/41/Impa_Hyrule_Warriors.png/revision/latest?cb=20140610203350

"Callllll a loooocksmiiiiith!"

I think so, yes.

Jim Sanderson

Is that a corruption of "chaff nippy belt"?

Ekij

Nausicaa is a fun movie. It is the same director as Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away, so the artwork is stunning and the story is suitably complex

SR Nulton

Aren't metal underpants also called a chastity belt?

Jim Sanderson

Was just rereading my Deeds of Paksenarrion and found myself mentally narrating an armor review in Jill's voice for the cover art. Surprisingly, particularly for BAEN cover art it earned a "pretty good" the biggest issues were the lack of leg protection for someone on a horse where a lot of threats would be at leg height

Gabriel Nichols

Love the imagery of t lavender hairs being yanked out one by one, truly Just Stab Me Now. Hilarious and informative as always.

Fenrir Wolfganger

Jill pokes at armor. Happy day!

Roger Germinder

I really needed one of these, it's not how I discovered you (that was Stuff You Like) but it was a rediscovery through the armour rating vidoes

Cynical Rhys

Imagine mail underwear. We used to joke that female barbarians built up their pain resistance by waxing every part of their bodies except their luxurious hairdos.

Anders

As a long-time Destiny player, thank you the review. From left to right on the Guardians, you have the Titan (tank), the Warlock (more in-tune with the light) and the Hunter (stealthly death). There's a lot of Lore involved with this game, but you guessed it right. The Witch Queen is the main baddie of that release and really tough to take down.

Jerry

I agree the cover art is awesome :) The problems with Xenk Yandar's armour are, honestly, disappointing. If you're spending $150M on a movie you can surely afford costumes that allow your actors to, you know, *act* as well as looking good? It's not even as though making armour fit and function is an especially obscure skill set. Most of your patrons could point to a few people for advice (and not just you or Zac).
