Leggings, perhaps. There are some large arteries in the legs that you'd want to protect from stabbing.

Way to go! Looks great - stylish AND functional!
In terms of future projects, in order of difficulty I think it goes bracers (least difficult), fingerless mittens (just the thumb), fingerless gloves (some sort of provision for individual fingers), gloves, gauntlets. But I think you could get knit fingerless mittens and attach leather scales relatively easily!

Can I vote for a side project (if you've enough leather scales left over) of testing it as a protection against assorted weaponry? Could the murder dress dagger stab through the scales? Would it protect against a sword slash? (My initial guesses are "no" and "yes" respectively, FWIW)
