Hello from The Plague House! (Please send armour)

Yes, friends, a member of the Bearup household has The Rona. Fear not, we're all fine, just...staying indoors.

Luckily, symptoms seem to be limited to snotty nose, occasional cough, and extreme grumpiness about not being able to go to school.

Other members of the household are (so far) negative, yay for vaccination.

To distract me from going mad, please leave your armour suggestions for review in an upcoming video. Any character your heart desires, go nuts.

That said, I am going to be biased towards live action suggestions for the public version of the video, just because they're more interesting to talk about.

I don't mind reviewing armour sets from anime or games, but they're often put together like the people involved don't know how clothes work, and there's only so many times you can say that before it gets a bit repetitive!

Stay safe, friends, and I'll see you soon.

I wouldn't mind seeing a review of any of the armour in the Jabbawocky Movie

Hi Jill! Possibly a bit off the beaten path, but I'd be curious to know what your take is on the set of armor worn by Guy of Warwick in this engraving of a drawing of a statue that used to be at a chapel in Warwick. I thought of this because my wife is writing a book where she refers to this page. https://archive.org/details/antiquitiesofwar00dugd/page/184/mode/2up In case the link doesn't work, the book is the Antiquities of Warwickshire page 184. The left bottom panel is a dude in chain armor, what looks like a steel cap, no visor, big-ol' kite shield, carrying a medium-length sword. I'm trying to think if the ensemble makes sense together. You'd carry a kite shield if you were expecting to be in a mass battle and having arrows raining down, right? But if that were the case, you'd have something longer and pointier than a single sword for fighting (spear, pole-arm, warhammer?). If he was going to be riding, he'd have spurs. I mean, it's all well and good to portray "dude in armor" but I'm puzzled as how it fits together. I hope plague is subsiding and you're mostly just dealing with confinement boredom. Best wishes and health and humor to the various members of Clan Ursa.

How about the armor in Galavant? I'm thinking of "A Good Day To Die" and the jousting scene, but there are other choices.

Well, I’m a fan of Stargate SG-1. Most of the main characters have standard military outfits. The Jaffa have cool looking sci-fi armor though. And they have a super soldier with cool body armor that shows up is season 7 episode 11.

what about the armor and weapon that Antonio Banderas has in the 13th warrior. I tried to google to see if you've done 13th warrior stuff but either you haven't or I can't google well enough to find it.

I submit the combatants' armor in the cathedral fight scene in Ladyhawke, mostly viewable here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIl9IFcIXlg especially wondering how practical/historically accurate those helmet visors are. They always seemed terribly limiting for the combatants' vision. (I must also put in a plug for the sheer charm of this film and all its pseudo-medieval 1980s synth glory).

Not sure if you have reviewed but taking a look at some of the female armor in mass effect and dragon age would be cool to see. Particularly from the female player character.

Thank you! And good suggestions, all :) We're doing okay, and I'm dealing with the boredom by making shorts in the evenings when the small bear is in bed or distracted by playing with stuff in an attempt to go to bed later XD

Hope you guys get better soon! Some humble suggestions: Excalibur, Rome (the series), Vikings, Alatriste, Die Nibelungen (1966–67 film), Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King. Also, If I may be so bold, on another note, I would like to suggest the sword fight from The Great Race and the mocking fight vom Cyrano (1990 film) for a review.

You could perhaps do some on actual armor of the past - I would love your take on Henry the Eighth’s interesting bits…😂

Just for funsies: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (>~<) But also some cartoon armours that are passable: All the lady armour from Dragon Prince Allura's armour from Voltron Legendary Defenders Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon and of course, Suki from Avatar the Last Airbender
