Historical Fantasy Cosplay (the Costume-ening)

Welcome to part 2 of the Historical Fantasy Cosplay Series, in which I make a really nifty outfit, and also some foam armour which...I think looks good for a first attempt! Enjoy!

Groan...

I have seen a few, I will go check her out next time I have to work with foam

I did at least have all the doors and windows open, but I did wear a mask...at least some of the time :D

Jill Bearup

I hope you enjoyed the horses :)

There's a lot of stuff going on in the world, but seeing this just made me happier this evening, so thank you for that :). I don't know exactly what it was, but it was fun to watch.

*minute 15 mark* Me: "That's using your head, Jill! ... I'll show myself out..."

"Do I have any clamps? No" - We're very different people (I have so many clamps I don't know how many clamps I have) but I still enjoy your stuff. "I'm up at 6am", yes very different people. The "trick" to avoiding the point when you close foam is lots of small seams going to a circle (or hexagon) in the middle. Some of KamuiCosplay videos will explain this much better than I can (but be careful, she'll tempt you to buy her books!)

Oof, I feel for you working in that kind of heat without any sort of AC. And yeah, it's best to wear a respirator and work in a well-ventilated area while using contact cement, it's nasty stuff. Can't wait to see how this all come together! It's looking pretty awesome.

It was 30-36 degrees Celsius for a lot of the footage you've just seen and we have one fan and no air conditioning, so we were...suffering a bit! Luckily it was not that hot for the actual horseriding/modelling of the costume because I think I would have passed out.

I see you had the help of the cats as well.

Anders

It is looking great. Good job pushing through the heat. Looking forward to seeing you interact with horses.

This was really fun and interesting to watch! However, at the risk of saying something rude or sounding like I'm criticising, you seemed really tired for a lot of it (probably because of the heat and upcoming holiday and such forth), which did ironically make other parts come off as delightfully manic and/or unhinged. Which was both fun and concerning in a delightful way :)
