The Last Sword in the Bag :)
Added 2024-11-15 11:06:52 +0000 UTCIs a Frankenstein's monster. I'm quite tempted to take it apart, but if I do I know there's not much chance of getting it back together again. Thoughts?

The fact that it may explode on you at any point in use reminded me of Fire Emblem's Devil Swords. Which have good stats but a 5%-10% chance of inflicting damage (or killing on you, depending on which game you're playing) anytime you use it.

2024-11-20 18:36:50 +0000 UTCSo I found this on Kickstarter and I thought that I'd share it with you and the rest of Patreon because there are Cheese Dice. (Or a cheese dice set). I saw them and immediately thought of you. Unfortunately you have to scroll down quite a bit but they are there. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/urwizardsdice/nature-3

2024-11-20 18:30:52 +0000 UTCLong as chatting about slicey-stabby things, do you ever do *weapon* reviews? Granted, most weapons are pretty similar, but then there are things like these. Assume character wielding them was already pretty strong, and that the alloy is some sort of unobtainium. Clear side-view of those weapons at 2:16, but the fight, short though it is, is worthy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zenp66w8i7c

2024-11-19 01:59:23 +0000 UTCI think it's a fair point that disassembling something isn't necessarily the best way to find out about it and preserve it. However. This has been clearly assembled at least once by non-expert presumably non-careful hands. The handle and the guard, and the soldered-on sleeve are clearly later inferior additions. The blade *might* be interesting, but you can't tell more about it when it's in the poorly-assembled state. Sometimes poorly assembled composite objects are interesting in their own right, but I suspect this might be much more interesting if you actually disassemble it and investigate the parts individually. So I would take this apart, carefully documenting what you find as you do so. Like: are the pins legit? Is the handle anything of note? Is the copper thing that's soldered on original (presumably not) (be careful, chemical protocol--it might be actual lead solder). And of course what you really want is to get a look at the tang and see if there are markings.
