Good Job covering it, (1993 GNN stared clickable adds). There never was much evidence targeted adds worked in your benefit. Now i haven't seen much adds in while even the "backed in" ones ;-) I try to battle trackers and fingerprinting methods in a severe way (compared to most users) for a long time. It's a pain in the ass for several reasons and the inconvenience for privacy gets bigger. One of the main issues i have is changing e-mail providers etc every time. Since i don't use or login with F... K and others, i have so many individual active accounts to manage(diversify) and potentially need a change or update. The smartphones are my main concern there should be a bigger effort in developing and producing decent alternatives like Linux phones ( PinePhone ,Librem , Astro, … ) because De-Googling Android phones aren't the solution anymore i think.
