I buy my PSN and eShop Cash gift cards from Amazon ever since I almost lost my account due to a stolen password a couple years ago. Since then, I don't store payment info on any console, especially because being put in a worst case scenario and having to issue a charge back would lead to Sony banning my account, and I'm not about to lose years of game data to archaic security or account policies. Gift Cards are just the safest way to go.

I would not be posting if I had saw this aspect being covered by the others posting in regards to gift cards, but aside from the already mentioned reasons (other regions buying regional gift cards because they want to keep their previous accounts once moved, or it's simply cheaper to buy games digitally from a certain region, or gifting to kids), there are A LOT of people who don't trust the console manufacturers to keep their payment information safe and prefer buying gift cards from other sources (like amazon) to load to their psn/xbl/nintendo accounts to make purchases.

Hey Kyle, I'm 90% Sure that PSN cards are being purchased by a rogue AI in Mendocino, for the purposes of laundering the profits of it's illegal raw milk business. All these people claiming that it's actually people outside the U.S. buying cards in order to bypass localized game costs with a US account? Pretty sure they are all bots or subterfuge programs installed into the matrix by the rogue A.I. PSN cards are the new bitcoin.

Hey Kyle, just an insight for why someone may buy their PSN gift cards on Amazon: I've got an Amazon credit card, so I get those sweet sweet 5x rewards points for each dollar I spend, rather than 1x if I bought it right on PSN. Got my PSVR on almost rewards points alone

Kyle; about the gift cards; i'm pretty sure there are a lot of international people who buy those cards so they can purchase stuff from other online stores than of their own country. (I can't link my EU visa card in the US PSN store, so i buy PSN cards from Amazon etc.)

As the weeks go by and more specifically it feels as if from December to now the Podcast is getting shorter, and with the low energy of this week that because it's "It's 1:00am let's go, I need to pee let's hurry this up". I moved from America to Europe, but i didn't want to leave behind my American PSN account cause i have all my friends, games, trophies, etc in there so the only way i have of buying stuff from the American store with my European card is through PSN cards, so yeah i buy those all the time.

I think the gift cards think Is because of people who don't live in the US but have an US account on the PSN Because it's cheaper and you need amrican credit card So you buy a gift card instead. That is what me and my friend's do

If you didn't know, Amazon recently started allowing foreign credit cards to buy US PSN cards. Maybe that is the reason why PSN cards are at the top of the list. Before, if you had a non-US billing address attached to a credit card, Amazon, PSN store, etc etc would not allow you to purchase a digital card. I live in Japan and I spent $200 on PSN cards last month. Maybe the rest of the world is doing the same. I should probably buy more in case they stop doing it.
