Intramural Tournament Poll
Added 2018-04-07 20:50:53 +0000 UTCIt is time already for another tournament stream! Here's what the Group Stream Selection Committee has chosen for us to squabble over this month:
Don's Design Lab: Far Cry 5 Edition - Two teams will be given 40 minutes to create a level that matches the theme The Don suggests. (The Don is chosen randomly)
Pokémon Stadium 1 & 2 - Minigames Only
Samurai Gunn
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Group Stream Night is every Tuesday night at 6pm PT on twitch.tv/easyallies and archived with our other streams at youtube.com/easyalliesplays
NOTE: The poll now closes at 6pm PT on Monday night, as opposed to Tuesday morning. There was a last-minute surge for The Simpsons: Hit & Run last week that really would have been one little bug in the cold cream jar.
Comments
I noticed "the Don" being chosen randomly. Still not a good idea since it comes to preferences and can make it or break it

2018-04-10 09:36:25 +0000 UTCI don't think Don's Design Lab would work for the tournament. First is he would pick a winner, secondly he would not be able to participate and thirdly it just works better as a team game than individual one.

2018-04-09 08:42:08 +0000 UTCI'm happy with Design Lab or Pokemon Stadium minigames. I know there isn't time for it, but a Don's Design Lab pre-recorded where they have a month to make a Far Cry level would be cool.

2018-04-09 04:30:22 +0000 UTCHow has the little bug in a cold cream jar gone unnoticed??? I have so many questions! What type of cream? What is it used for? Does it need to be cold for some reason for the metaphor to hold up? I assume it's a sugar-based substance since it is attracting little bugs? I understand that given interaction with cold cream, a little bug would most likely get stuck, but how does that relate to Simpson's Hit and Run gaining a last minute surge? Also wouldn't room temperature cream be harder to escape from? Is this some incredibly common phrase that I have completely not heard of before?

2018-04-09 03:13:22 +0000 UTCSeeing how Don Design Lab always win, I really hope they make that its own show. Maybe with one official judge (I doubt Don would be available often enough, so maybe Blood?) and a rotation of two allies every show.

2018-04-09 02:00:28 +0000 UTCDon Design Lab is GREAT, but should be it’s own thing. Like a semi-regular series, similar to what they did with Mario Maker at GT.
Brian Denu
2018-04-09 00:20:35 +0000 UTCAre most people just voting for DDL because Don’s name is attached to it? I think if Don is not actually THE Don, his name should be stricken off the title and made just Design Lab. Save Don’s Design Lab for the actual Don approved challenges.
2018-04-08 23:54:08 +0000 UTCIt was me that shouted Far Cry 5 design tournament in chat. I'm sorry. XD

2018-04-08 18:59:04 +0000 UTCBut... it's so good! Admitedly, it should be its own show.

2018-04-08 14:20:33 +0000 UTCHave some stakes please
2018-04-08 13:31:52 +0000 UTCI guess they could organize it something like this. Each team competes in creating the best time trial map type map. The winning team as well as the person chosen as referee then compete among themselves on that map to see who is the winner. The DDL would be like a qualifier round.

2018-04-08 10:46:20 +0000 UTCA little over saturated with design labs lately imo

2018-04-08 10:11:27 +0000 UTCWhat really bugs me here with DDL winning is the feeling that the tournament would be left in an incomplete state. I mean I'd just like to see one winner, not four. That's where the magic is in tournament nights. To see them continue after that first phase with 2vs2 and then 1vs1 for the final round. The nature of this particular thing, Far Cry's level editing, just makes this practically impossible for a two-hour stream, and so the whole concept sadly collapses in my eyes. I'd wish that Kyle and the group could maybe come up with a way to continue after this initial phase, but that would mean a 3h+ night for them. (No quick RPS either, please.)

2018-04-08 10:00:03 +0000 UTCHe's not the one being the judge. It's a random draw on who gets to be The Don. Regular Don is a treasure though I agree.

2018-04-08 08:51:17 +0000 UTCGotta say I disagree. Group Streams have always been loud and crazy but recently it seems they've made an effort to try to stay focused on the game and not talk over each other all the time. It still happens on occasion but not as much as before. Also, Group Streams are supposed to be about the nine of them coming together to have fun as a group. Not to mention the fact that it's also the day they all gather to shoot a lot of shows, not just the podcast. There's never going to be complete consensus or guarantee for a great group stream, no matter how you choose to do these. Not even when the group decides for themselves as we saw with Metal Gear Survive, which in my opinion was one of the worst Group Stream Nights, for the first half at least. As stated above I disagree that DDL is good for a tournament night but if it does win that's fine. I trust that the Allies will still make it a fun stream.

2018-04-08 08:38:28 +0000 UTCIf you guys can get Don to do any creator episode, I say just go with that why even have a poll. It is always a great time, the dude just brings the best energy to the group and everyone is so happy... me most of all. Don is the best, this isn't a contest.
Jeffrey Tessar
2018-04-08 08:36:18 +0000 UTCAm I the only one who thinks the group streams are getting out of hand? There are too many allies and too little time for any game to really be played properly. The conversation often turns incomprehensible with people talking over each other, and usually off topic with people having no idea whats going on in the game. Add on top of that a requirement to have tournaments periodically with games selected and then voted on by the public... I have stopped selecting, voting, and watching the group streams now. I would much prefer to replace group streams with smaller streams of 2 to 3 allies together at Jones's garage playing a game they are actually interested in. 3 people playing Ni No Kuni 2 together would be a lot more fun than 9 people playing Pokemon Stadium, IMO.
Ian Alexander
2018-04-08 04:54:18 +0000 UTCWell, have to say I had a hard time voting for any of the group. Nothing that really is my cup of tea as it were. I do find it interesting how if you read the replies that you thing that the lead one wouldn't have a single vote. I guess the whole silent majority or plurality in this case is true.
Mr.V
2018-04-08 03:49:56 +0000 UTC41% of allies seem to disagree with you, the whole point of this is to allow the majority decide what they do,
Jesse.P
2018-04-08 01:43:01 +0000 UTCIt sucks that don's design lab always wins just for it being don's design lab. It makes no sense for a tournament, it's not even with Don.. I wish the allies would just pick the nominees instead because the group stream selection committee is clearly not doing a good job with it.
Osbeorn
2018-04-08 01:34:27 +0000 UTCTournament nights, generally have 3 winners. Winning team of 4 is 4 winners. 1 more winning person, who cares. Yeah, it might not be tiered as first place, second, place etc. but most times, they end up throwing to get to second place because they don’t want the first place price. Like Brad recently with the trunk funko pop. Just have 4 winners from the winning team and have 4 prizes and just let them pick what they want. Regardless, It’s still a competition in comparison to the group streams where they just mess around with a game and not compete.
Colton Berry
2018-04-08 01:30:05 +0000 UTCClearly, the fact that it’s winning shows people want it. Vote with your wallet, and vote for something else, and if you hate it that much...then don’t watch the stream. No one is forcing you to watch it. LET THE PEOPLE SPEAK.
Colton Berry
2018-04-08 01:24:54 +0000 UTCI agree with everyone saying that Don's Design Lab is not fit for tournament night. Maybe the Groups Stream Committee should not be picking the game for tournament nights. Or most group stream nights. IMO.
LeeLore
2018-04-08 01:23:50 +0000 UTCThis. Appreciate that we Patreons get to vote. But one stream a month for the selection committee is more than enough for me.
LeeLore
2018-04-08 01:21:17 +0000 UTCthis was a no-brainer. Don is The Emporer of design labs!
SmorgasLord
2018-04-08 00:26:00 +0000 UTCI agree that the DDL can be fun but makes no sense for Tournament Night. I’d complain about the Commitee system, but honestly how can I argue that the majority doesn’t want DDL and Nintendo games every week? I just have to resign myself to being in the minority.
Stardrifter
2018-04-08 00:22:05 +0000 UTCI'll pick Sonic, but only because this is a tournament stream. I played the demo, and found it quite boring.
TurboChickenMan
2018-04-07 23:40:05 +0000 UTCI agree that Design Lab makes no sense as a tournament pick... Surely I would enjoy such a stream, but it's wrong that an established (fan favorite) series can come in and snatch up a spot in the Intramural Tournament poll, without actually even fitting the criteria.
GermanScientist
2018-04-07 22:59:57 +0000 UTCI'd imagine it would be similar to how the sims stream was done. We would have two teams design a map, and then the "Don" judges it.
BeatenDownBrian
2018-04-07 22:28:00 +0000 UTCI'd imagine it would be similar to the one they did with the sims. Two teams make a map, and the "Don" judges it.
BeatenDownBrian
2018-04-07 22:24:38 +0000 UTCNot sure how that would work as a tournament (or how far they can go in 45 minutes), but I will never say no to a Don's Challenge.
MaxVSTheGames
2018-04-07 22:06:47 +0000 UTCI don't get this at all. Samurai Gunn seems like a great tournament game, but it's in a distant 4th. DDL doesn't make any sense as a tournament, but it's leading.
Dustin McNab
2018-04-07 22:03:34 +0000 UTCDon's Design Lab being this popular of a choice for these shows it probably should be considered for a future stretch goal to come back as a full show if Don has time for and interest in doing it again. Could still have Patrons suggest or even choose the games they're interested in seeing the Allies work with on it.
MBUN
2018-04-07 21:57:14 +0000 UTCWe had one almost exactly a month ago. Let's wait at least one or two more so we don't run the concept into the ground.

2018-04-07 21:45:08 +0000 UTCA vote for Sonic is a vote for Don’s Design Lab being a terrible idea for a tournament game. Vote Sonic!
2018-04-07 21:42:58 +0000 UTCDon's Design Lab yes! But for next week, for a regular stream, not for a tournament.
2018-04-07 21:42:49 +0000 UTCSamurai gunn! people, believe me it would make an amazing tournament game! It even has a final showdown with a setting sun for the end!
2018-04-07 21:38:50 +0000 UTCVeto, Kyle? Or do you have an idea how we'd have a winner with Far Cry? I'm seeing a lot of displeased comments and likes on them.
Ville Ranto
2018-04-07 21:25:01 +0000 UTCDon's Design Lab should not be a tournament stream. I'm starting to think the selection committee needs to be vetoed here. Also, can we maybe change it to selection committee gets one week out of the month to choose a game and then the Allies choose tournament weeks and the other weeks of the month?

2018-04-07 21:24:50 +0000 UTCAll Stars needs a win Baby!

2018-04-07 21:22:56 +0000 UTCBut it’s not Don. Read the descriptions. “The Don” will be a random draw

2018-04-07 21:18:09 +0000 UTCI'm all about Don.

2018-04-07 21:14:50 +0000 UTCi have no idea how you'll make design lab into a tournament, but go off i guess
2018-04-07 21:14:13 +0000 UTCFeels like this could've been a veto.
Olf Himself
2018-04-07 21:14:02 +0000 UTCIt's awesome once in a blue moon, trying to force it every couple of weeks takes the magic away. Nevermind the fact that it'll be with "The Don" and not, you know, Don.

2018-04-07 21:06:02 +0000 UTCMy thoughts exactly. I'm suspecting it might have been nominated by mistake. I totally missed that this was a tournament week at first and nominated a beat-em-up at first so maybe that's what happened here too.
Olf Himself
2018-04-07 21:01:23 +0000 UTCIt might not even be Don. It just says "The Don"
Andrew Mowbray
2018-04-07 21:01:08 +0000 UTCWere doing too many design labs IMO and doesn’t fit the spirit of a tournament.
Greg Kettering
2018-04-07 21:01:02 +0000 UTCDon's Design Lab can be done anytime, why it needs to take up a Tournament Stream is beyond me.
Andrew Mowbray
2018-04-07 21:00:12 +0000 UTCWait, how would that Far Cry thing work as a tournament? We'd have four winners? Sounds... stupid, sorry to say. I really like the idea, seeing what they'd come up with, but why was this proposed now for a tournament night?
