Exactly, external backup of savegames and cloud backup are what I need first from Nintendo. As you said, if your Switch is dead you lost all savegames.

There was a system update that let you use USB controllers with some caveats. The Wii U-Gamecube controller adapter works. and I've heard you can also use PS4 controllers with a Mayflash drive (I think that's how it's called). I suppose with more research one could find more options besides the joycons and pro controller if you want to have some casual playing sessions.

its not like there are just teams of people waiting around in these companies to work on something new, the wii balance board team, amiibo team, any other number of people were probably previously working on things you care about wether it was design elements of virtual console or things to do with the online service. yeah maybe they're not vital to the launch of these things but it does feel like nintendo would have to prioritise the labo launch by taking numbers from other things to do that. its not for me and i'm still annoyed my switch could break tomorrow and ive lost hundreds of hours of saves.

I think the delay definetly helped adding Labo jeje. Good stuff guys!!

Yeah, it worked out in the end

Huzzah! If there's one great thing we can get from the delay, it's your take on Labo!
