All About the B's - Reaction Shots Discussion Topic

Well it's another one of those weird short first week months so here we are with another quick turn around on a discussion topic!

This month we're going to talk briefly about the Oscars, but mainly we will be focusing on "B movies."  

The term B movie stems from the lesser known second films of a double feature, especially back in the golden age of Hollywood.  Studios would throw these generally cheaper, shorter, movies after big ticket films to make the theatre going experience more of... well, a theatre going experience.

Today the term is a little less specific, often meaning a "bad" movie (intentionally or otherwise), a certain kind of genre movie, an exploitation movie, or a free-spirited indie that doesn't care what anybody thinks!

The most common types of B movie in the Golden Age were Westerns, in the 50s it was common to see Sci-Fi and Horror fill the B movie slot, why do you think B movies are typically "genre" pictures?

The B movie aesthetic is often sought after, what about this style do you think is alluring for some?

Some big names made their names big in the B movie scene, Peter Jackson, Roger Corman, Vincent Price, how do you think their past influenced their later careers, did they ever transcend?
