Red Dead Redemption 2 is delayed and nobody seems to mind, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is officially unpopular, and this year's Call of Duty is heavily rumored to be Black Ops 4.

Came here to say the same. ✌️😊

I laughed when bloodworth and ben both thought dragon ball fighterz was going to outsell monster hunter world. Especially when blood worth called it a "niche title". Niche titles don't get numbers like MHW on twitch. DBZ fighterz is ok but despite the graphics deep down it's still a casual fighting game with dumbed down mechanics, autocombos, no neutral, and all rushdown. There's also no pro circuit support so it'll likely be dropped after evo just like every anime fighter that came before it. MHW on the other hand should be a game of the year contender and the popularity doesn't appear to be dying down, it was over 5 million distributed after 3 days and I read somewhere it's now past 6 million. DBZ fighterz I read somewhere they distributed over 2 million after 3 days and that's spread across 3 platforms as opposed to 1 with MHW, which is still great but not at the level of MHW.

I follow the fgc very closely and what they said wasn't too off base, mvci is not nearly as popular as it should be and we've rehashed why over and over. The only thing I would have added is that the reasons given for not including them in evo were off based since MVCi is very well attended relatively in tournaments, as others have researched and it has been insinuated by a few on twitter that there were political reasons why the game wasn't included (such as issues with marvel), but cut them some slack they were talking about info that just came out right before the podcast. I personally like hearing their thoughts on the fgc and hopefully they pay more attention to it and learn the different personalities and players, etc. Evo and the big tournaments are great to watch and I wish more allies give it a chance.

CORRECTION: Tom Brady did not only look like a doof when he dropped the pass, he ALSO looked like a buffoon.

*sigh* I know the people at EZA don't really follow the FGC and are not up to date with the ins and outs of what happens within FGC, so it's probably silly of me to expect a thorough research when EZA tries to talk about fighting games, but man, this hurts. It's like watching kids try to discuss politics. The uproar from MvC fans took place within FGC immediately after the announcement that MvCI will not be part of EVO this year. It was particularly upsetting because Mr Wizard's (the organizer of EVO) reasoning for the decision was that "I think people are not playing it" when there's an overwhelming amount of evidence proving otherwise. For majority of FGC tournaments, the number of people entering for MvCI has been very respectable. To give you a perspective, Rick, the organizer of Combo Breaker tournament series, put together some numbers (<a href="https://twitter.com/TheHadou/status/961120344181534720" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://twitter.com/TheHadou/status/961120344181534720</a> ). MvCI was mostly 3rd-4th most played games in many events (that's right behind the juggernauts like SFV and Tekken 7), and Rick states that there are more people already signed up for MvCI at Combo Breaker 2018 than in 2017. FGC believes that it's disingenuous for Mr Wizard to claim that people are "not playing it" and he's being disrespectful to the dedicated MvC playerbase. After being pressed on the matter, Mr Wizard cracked and left a comment through Markman (who co-hosted the reveal show), hinting that Marvel/Disney had to do with MvCI's exclusion from EVO. (<a href="https://twitter.com/MarkMan23/status/961290418984910848" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://twitter.com/MarkMan23/status/961290418984910848</a> ) Also, please, Damiani and Kyle, I love you, but please don't go out on a limb and say things like "community hates the game, it's not fun", "the community doesn't care about the game", or "there aren't many entrants of players" like you know and have well-informed and researched opinion because "people who don't even play the game talking down on the game because it's fun to voice hate on the internet" have already hurt MvCI. It's offensive to make an unfounded claim like "Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is officially unpopular" in your video summary/description - that's sensationalism. (*cough* kotaku and polygon) "MvCI didn't make it to EVO 2018" would be a much more objective and accurate headline. Always remember to love and respect.

It's an unfortunate thing about MVCi, I wanted to like it but it was DOA, no x-men, terrible style cheap graphics and rehashed animations, plus the FGC shilling controversy. Even despite these problems, MVCi had on average consistently more tournament participants than guilty gear, blaz blue, or kof so interest was not the issue, it was insinuated by people in the know on twitter that Marvel (not capcom) was the reason it was not at Evo.

Clarification (kinda / continuation ?) ; Brasil is very much a paralel univers as in one where Sega beat Nintendo. There are some very interesting documentaries on youtube and even a series by RedBull about this: <a href="https://www.redbull.com/int-en/the-history-of-video-games-in-brazil" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.redbull.com/int-en/the-history-of-video-games-in-brazil</a> One big factor on to why these old skool consoles sell great over in Brasil is that it is nearly impossible for Brasilians to get there hands on modern consoles, because of piracy and clones, a PS3/4 can cost more than 1000$ (still). Man, i'm so psyched i got Kyle to do some research !

FF XV is weird to me. It's the third best off shoot FF game but since it's main line numbered it might be third last in the rankings. To me the open world nature hurt the narrative and took away the feel of urgency that was supposed to be going on. Balancing player freedom and strong narrative was lacking but I still enjoyed the world of FFXV but not the characters. 7.3/10

Correction: Resident Evil 7 may not have paid off. Sure critics though it was a refreshing return to form, but even though it sold well (over 4 million copies) it didn't sell better than RE5 (over 11 million copies) or RE6 (over 9 million copies).

Derrick DesRoches

Final Fantasy 15s biggest problem is the game play. Combat still will be terrible in the Royal Edition.

Kyle is crazy. Fishing minigames with tension and such are the best! Stardew Valley's fishing system is still my favorite I've seen in a game so far. I actually am not a fan of oversimplified fishing like Animal Crossing style.

WAAAAAYYYY BETTER!

I feel like Jones should know that there is a huge Game of Thrones Crusader Kings 2 mod which is really really popular. Kinda what he was describing. Can start as anyone in the game of thrones world and pick many different starting times. Really high production value for a mod.

As an Aussie who's favourite game as a child was Wonderboy III The Dragons Trap on the Sega Master System. It makes me sad that North America (for the most part) missed out on some the great games on the system. The Dragons Trap redeemed in 2017 with the remake though. L&amp;R.

CORRECTION: Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be the best selling game of the year; it will lose to GTA 5.

Correction: Monster Hunter World does have microtransactions, there are a few gestures, hairstyles, etc you can buy as DLC. No packs to crack, meaning a hard limit to what you can spend, and the amount of stuff you can buy is almost nothing compared to what you get in the base game (for now at least).

Arnesh Nagavalli

I've always suspected that the Low and High bets are the "safe" bets that have a better chance of winning, and that the Red Eagles dominated the last two seasons of the podcast because Jones and Kyle went for them more often. If someone has the brains and patience to crunch the numbers I'd be very intrigued about the results.

force commander soundtrack sounds tight !

Correction: PUBG looks the way it does not look the way it does for optimization purposes. It looks that way because its an indie game that uses mostly store bought assets. Since Rockstar has an experienced dev team and is building a game from the ground up, they could definitely make a beautiful game that supported 100 players.

Correction, soft tacos are better than hard shell tacos

The ResetEra member who always posts financial data and analysis (ZhugeEX) gets the name Zhuge from Zhuge Liang, a major Chinese historical figure and celebrated general from the Three Kingdoms period of China (the conflict Dynasty Warriors takes place in). ZhugeEX's profile picture is also of Zhuge Liang. From what I've heard of people saying the name it's pronounced something like "Zhyuu-guh" or "Shyuu-guh"

There was quite a lot of Nintendo news over the last week. Is this being relegated to Friend Code?
