Video Editing 101

I taught Huber how to edit! And you can too! Edit, not teach Huber how to edit. I mean I suppose you could.

Great stuff guys !

This is great. I've been trying to learn and didn't know some of the basic tools so seeing them laid out here will make for a much smoother project next time.

More stuff like this please! I work with editing sound and this was really interesting for me personally.

Terrific episode, kudos for showing the basics Ian and Huber for giving it a crack! Explaining editing fast and loose is the way to do it. Looking forward to future ones if your keen to do more.

It would be really interesting if you get Jones next time. I wonder what tricks can two editors teach each other.

I love these 'behind the curtain' videos! Definitely want to see a follow up to this, where Huber shows his progress or something.

Really nice video. I had to teach myself some editing which I use for throwing together academic/technical videos. However, I learnt from the perspective of visual effects (using After Effects). So it's nice to actually see someone use Premiere and talk about some basic fundamentals of narrative editing instead. I'll be sure to use some of these ideas next time I edit.

I absolutely LOVE this. Thanks so much for doing something like this Mr. Hinck! I've had very rudimentary experience with editing when I was in school a couple of years back and I was able to follow along really well and be reminded of some things. But most importantly, I learned a couple of new things too! If I could provide only one thing of feedback: if you were to do more of these educational types of videos on how to edit, with various lessons about effects, audio, transitions, etc., could you put breaks in once or twice to allow for review of concepts or principles? I only ask because about halfway, I became concerned I wasn't able to retain all that was discussed, so a short little quiz, or a summary of all that was covered up to that point would be really helpful, at least for me. Regardless, this was really awesome and stuff like this and a stream awhile back when Mr. Jones was showcasing himself cutting the audio for the Dragon Quest Builders review is extremely fascinating, and educational. Thanks again and I hope you do a lot more of this kind of thing, if you so choose!
