Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Easy Allies Review

The legends of the Final Fantasy series throw down in this new fighter, but is Dissidia better off as a more competitive game than before?

This also marks the first review using the brand new 20-point scale for Easy Allies.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT - Easy Allies Review

Comments

Well, were you just excited to use the whole range and gave it a 6? ;) Just kidding. I'm still comparing this to the way I liked the stars. Stars represent scores from 5 to 10. Stars are like a reward for doing something right. If a game does nothing right, it doesn't get any stars (so, below 5). A 6.0 is 1 star. Now, it's not "Terrible", it's just quite bad... I think you should GO BACK to the stars. Change "Terrible" to something like "Inadequate", 0 stars is Terrible. Reveal the score like before but add the number at the end, like: Final Score ★☆☆☆☆ 6.0 Inadequate Now, some might think 8.5 (3.5 stars) "Decent" is quite a bad word for such a "high" score. It might be right to think 3.5-4.0 stars (8.5-9.0) is actually Excellent. So the wording actually matches half a star lower. Or one might think "decent" actually means most people will like it. Then the scoring and wording indeed matches. Most people won't have the time to play but only the Excellent games, hence only games above 9.0.

I was thinking of possibly getting this based on some of the early videos (it does look pretty good and I do like most of the FF characters), but most reviews (including this one) commented on how confusing and complex it is to actually play. I think the new scoring system is fine, but then again I am not someone who cares much about the final score much anyway.

The new score system is kind of like, whatever I suppose. The changes are understandable and justified to give more options for the reviewers. However, these "numbers" are merely arbitrary. Each Star represented something specific, but 6.0...Does not. Is that just 3/5 Stars, aka "Decent"? It sounded more like "inferior" from the review itself, which drops it down to 2/5, which is more like a 4.0. The initial concern that almost every review will be in the 6 and above range is gonna likely be what happens. But more importantly, what does 6.0 stand for? We need a breakdown of what each point represents, cause: "Our ratings: 5 Stars - Masterful, 4 Stars - Excellent, 3 Stars - Decent, 2 Stars - Inferior, 1 Star - Terrible" was quite clear. A 10 (20) point scale system means pretty much diddly squat without a clear distinction between each grade. We really need a rubric if this is going to become the standard.

Have to agree. This score reveal just didn't feel like as good.

Super helpful review. Clarified that the game's reward cycle just doesn't match my own. Thanks!

I really hope that score reveal isn't the final product, doesn't have nearly the impact that a score reveal should have. At least the stars had the really slick wipe. Put some audio there or something.

No we give it a ......?

I want a Tekken-styled FF fighter with the brawlers of each title. Yang, Shadow, Sabin, Tifa, Yuffie, Zell, Amarant, etc. That's the FF fighting game I want. None of this flashy, horrible UI, numbers all over the screen stuff.

There is potential for the game to bring in a unique crowd for EVO. Yet you're probably closer to the truth because if the game isn't supported then no dice.

Good review. Shame that this game isn't that good, it had potential. Maybe they'll get it right with another one? (Also, fully support the review score change .... This game being a 6.0/10 gets the message across better than saying 3/5Stars , IMO)

The producer of this game said he wants it to become an eSport... Yeah, right.

Great review, I like the scoring system a lot more too. This definitely felt more like a 6.0 than a 3-star game.

The SECOND I got this email I said "oh shit OH SHIT I gotta see this. I didn't expect it to well
