Easy Allies Podcast #100 - February 21st 2018

I do keep getting left off the podcast sponsor list since the first few months for whatever reason, but trust me I'm a supporter!

I was inordinately bummed when GT was shuttered, didn't realize how much I'd come to appreciate the unique vibe and content you guys put out. I actually created a Twitter account (something I'd managed to avoid for the past decade) just to keep tabs on whatever projects you might move on to. I also used Twitch for the first time to catch that bittersweet post-GT Huber stream. Needless to say, when I saw that there would be an upcoming announcement I was stoked. I was on board from day one, and EZA has turned out to exceed my idea of it's best case scenario. Thanks for taking the chance. Keep on keeping on.

I'd also wonder with EA, how much free-reign they have on the Star Wars Back catalogue of video games? Could they re-release a Star Wars Classics pack with X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron, the Jedi Knight Series, Republic Commando, Star Wars: Racer (VR?) on modern consoles? Even as a relatively simple HD remaster, that would be like printing money and gauge consumer interest for type of SW games (since they're screwing it up left and right). What do people think, is that a viable possibility?

Just saying, since Pandemic can't do SWBF, might as well bring on Rebellion. They did an excellent job with the PSP titles Renegade and Elite Squadron.

CORRECTION: Pandemic (creator of Mercenaries) and all their IP are owned by Electronic Arts. EA shut them down in 2009 though (typical of EA). Too bad too, cause 4 years later when rebooting Star Wars Battlefront, the original team would have been nice.

Oh man when they mentioned Tiberian Sun, brought back memories of a time I used to play RTS games almost exclusively. Loved Red Alert 2 too! The opening sequence is one of the best ever.

CORRECTION!: EA does indeed own the Mercenaries IP after they acquired Pandemic. They went on to publish Mercenaries 2 and we all know the rest of that story. :(

fun note, despite their physical appearances, Glen is "mom" and Mike is "Dad" at SHG. Glenn was creative no matter what, Jolly and talkative and Mike tightened the Belt and kept the ship on budget and schedule and dropped a lot of random F bombs.

BRAVO! The was the perfect milestone podcast. An amazing special guest appearance, it really was very special to see Don onscreen for this. Very entertaining musical number, both the piece itself and it's implementation into the podcast was great. Kyle your creativity is so inspiring. A lovely Love&Respect game. A community shout out. And nothing was taken away from a normal podcast. Often a milestone episode is very different from the norm and certain things are dropped to make room for celebration segments, or it's an entire different one-off format. (I don't like either of those things, because it feels so different it's almost as if there was no podcast that week). We got the best of both worlds and I am so happy. Here is to another 100, I'm so excited for what the future brings! <3

The Mercenaries franchise is indeed under EA. Mercenaries, and its developer, Pandemic, are considered a prime example of EA acquiring a studio and properties and that studio going downhill soon after.
