Box Peek March Update
Added 2018-03-13 10:01:22 +0000 UTCI remember that I promised to warn you before Box Peek premieres. As production winds down on Episode 1, I feel confident to announce that--barring any tragedies--Box Peek will have a special premiere at the Easy Allies In Concert stream this Sunday. I say "special premiere" because there will definitely be a long gap between this episode's debut and the next nine.
While it's taken 4.5 weeks to produce Episode 1, I'm actually feeling pretty good. There are some things I spent too much time on, there are some things I threw away after spending too much time on them, and a lot of the pieces and processes I worked through this past month will pay off for the rest of the series. Now that I know what a full episode feels like (it feels real bad) my goal is to get each episode's production, from storyboards to final edit, down to 2.5 weeks. If I can pull that off, we can maybe still hit late, late spring, since I want to bank six episodes before premiering in full.
When the weekly rollout begins we'll re-broadcast Episode 1 back-to-back with Episode 2, so you don't have to feel like you're waiting an extra week. I think I'm also not going to upload Episode 1 to YouTube until then, because I don't want the series to lose all momentum out of the gate.
I also suspect I'll want to make a lot of changes afterward, so this might just be like a beta version of Episode 1. I'm excited for you all to see the show this week but I'm also looking forward to the feedback. No part of Box Peek is close to perfect, but I still want to learn as much as I can from this. I say that working on this is grueling, and it is, it's terrible and stupid, but to be honest with you it makes me happy. There's an unexpected joy to hot gluing little paper boxes together. Even if everyone ends up hating this, I had a fun time making it.

At least I can watch the live stream! I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Hopefully you'll get some constructive feedback after and be able to feel more confident going forward :)
