Vampyr - Review

Beter late then never?

This review is spot on. The combat and length of the game really spoiled it. Great atmosphere and some intriguing story moments/mechanics with citizens but overall it was just kind of average.

I would have played an eight hour version of this for the world alone, but 30?!

Oof! Huber is generally super positive, so it's very telling for him to score a game this low. I love Dont Nod and felt somewhat obligated to try this despite not really being into vampires. After seeing the game in action and heading these strikes against it, I should probably skip it for the time being...

It's funny, cause if you watched that one episode of Frametrap, he was pretty positive on the game back then. Maybe the length got to him?

I am glad I platinum’ed the game, before this preview. This critique is way too harsh. Instead we should celebrate each narrative driven, full fledged single player game. They are a dying breed after all, it seems. While the fighting may indeed be a bit stale, each decision has real consequences. You can see this in even minor dialogue changes, after you finished certain quests or killed certain people. And if you play the non-kill route, you even get a happy ending. So Huber, this review, like “Ratched and Clank” was a bit of a miss (for me at least). Nonetheless keep up the good work.

I've never disagreed with an EZA or Hubter review more. Once I started Vampyr, I couldn't put it down until it was finished. The combat I found to be serviceable and adaptable to multiple playstyles and the length I found to be just right. I would put it more in the 7-8 range, 8-9 if it wasn't for some long loading times and questionable framerate on an XBox One X.

I find the charm in it. I love the setting and the premise so far. I got it cheaper so I’m not too angry about it but yes, I agree that it’s in the 5-7 out of 10 range.

Damn ill wait til its real cheap then.

Cozy...

Star Tsurugi

That sounds devastating.

hated the story, combat was fun though, should've been 12 hours instead of 30+, characters were pretty meh.
