I think he means just for this type of game (Metroidvania) and I agree with him in this instance. It took me 25 hours to get the first ending (and beat two levels of the colosseum) and, for me, it was 5 to 10 hours too long. The backtracking and "fast travel" systems lend the game to a lot of wasted travel time and the map is pretty convoluted. The game never really changes from the first minute, so while its 25 hours of great music, atmosphere, and gameplay, I think it would have been much better as a 10 to 15 hour game. Regardless, it's still a great game and I can't wait to see what they do with a sequel (hopefully).

I was hoping they would talk about Octopath Traveller.

I think your concern brings up the bigger issue of this podcast IMO. For a dedicated podcast on a particular brand it's super inclusive on some franchises but wholey neglects many others. I'd rather have a podcast with more substance either with discussion with a least an appreciation for something they may not be personally into or with more guests to cover missed areas. I feel the eShop has a thousand options and many are getting passed up in the only venue EZA has to cover them. I've heard more than enough re2 discussions from the panel despite my enthusiasm for the game. Not to say it hasn't been getting better in other areas. I really appreciated listener feedback during the show instead of tacked on the end

Can't wait for some Labo Vehicle Kit talk next time. Maybe Damiani will finally give Labo a chance

Regarding Hollow Knight length - I feel like making a judgment call on how long you think a game should be before you're seeing the content that justifies that length is kind of unfair. It's why I do not use sites like HowLongToBeat anymore - because it's skewing my perception of when games are supposed to be wrapping up, etc. This is especially true for a game that involves a lot of backtracking, retries, optional missions/collection/bosses, secret paths, and multiple endings like Hollow Knight can. It's pretty robust and also pretty clear that there's a heavy Dark Souls influence with regard to its NPC encounters, boss fights, game structure, and area layouts - and Dark Souls played casually is not a short game either. The map is probably a lot bigger than you give it credit for as well, which is not a bad thing from my perspective, aside from sometimes lengthy treks to find fast travel stations.
