Spoiler Mode - Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War is the climax of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that was 10 years in the making that began all the way back with 2008's Iron Man. The Allies sit down to discuss this monumental film and try to parse through every one of the movie's shocking moments and debate where Marvel can possibly go next after that unbelievable ending.

Please remember that starting with this episode, Spoiler Mode is now a Patron exclusive show, and it's thanks to your support that made this possible. Enjoy!

Spoiler Mode - Avengers: Infinity War

Comments

I think there was a missed opportunity to draw in some new viewers by having this one unlisted.

This movie makes me so happy and so worried for Avengers 4, I don't know how they can bring back everyone but not feel cheap in some way, but I was worried about Infinity War anyway, so maybe that's just me, hope they can bring a even bigger surprise than this.

I like this theory, makes thanos more interesting.

Is anyone else having issues with Patreon app on iOS? The video starts and plays for awhile and then freezes goes black and I have to restart the app.

I want to start this out by saying that I greatly appreciate everything that Damiani brings to the group. I'm always excited to hear what he has to say because he is anincredible fountain of knowledge that I always crave to hear (just like the other allies and their takes/perspectives on things). Unfortunately, I had to stop cold turkey at the 5:42 mark of this video after hearing him say the word like 12 times in 26 seconds. Maybe it's just me and my current situation at home making my kids put a nickel in the "Like" Jar (due to excessive use, just like the use of "umm"), but it was a cringe every time I heard it. It happened a few times leading to this but I shrugged it off in hopes I could just ignore it. I will give him much credit though on his most recent Friend Code episode where he did a great job keeping the "like's" at bay. Nothing but love for you Damiani and keep up the great content!

I love that this Spoiler Mode wasn't rushed, like I think The Last Jedi one was. Great job.

I believe it's been confirmed that it's not him. It's a look/sound-alike.

Olf Himself

Excellent spoiler mode guys! Great job hosting Damiani, and it was fantastic that y'all let the whole conversation play out with a nice long run time : )

I really wanna touch on Red Skull in this movie. I NEVER expected to see Hugh Weaving play this character again, as much as I desperately wanted to see this arc continued. I need confirmation, but I could swear I heard we'd never see him return to the part.

Justin Greene

I share some of the allies concerns, that this thing is all going to be tied up with/by Captain Marvel. Feige has gone on record as saying that Captain Marvel will be the most powerful character in the MCU, once her movies out, so there is a chance that she's going to be the mcguffin that does for Thanos. Hopefully they'll be a bit more creative than that, but I think the last part of the Captain Marvel movie is going to be her entrance into this fight.

Avengers Revengance (Thor picks the name) Also, I belive Thanos is sitting on Gamoras home planet. He described her planet as a utopia after he cleansed it.

Movie was so good great spoiler mode. Maybe to end the video say Spoiler Mode Deactivated

It’s funny that Ian brought up “The Leftovers” because that’s the first thing that popped into my head during the post credit scene. I was like, “Wait...Carrie Coon is in both...The Leftovers is a prequel to Infinity Wars!...or it’s a whole St. Elsewhere situation...”

Larry DuPreez III

If you guys only knew a that bit more about the comics and the characters / powers etc :(... good discusion though !

Randy Verschueren

Damiani : "X-Men, that's terrestrial, that's on Earth!" Tell that to: The Phalanx, The Starjammers, The Brood, Cyclops' dad, The Phoenix Force, Mojo, Asteroid M, The Shi'ar, The Dire Wraiths, the Kree, the Skrulls, Abyss, Azazel, where nightcrawler goes, Belasco, all of Magick's storyline, and much more.

Also, I think every character that disappeared made too much sense, in hindsight of course.. every single person that disappeared is a NEW avenger or presumably part of the new avenger team. The next Avengers movie will be a send off, whether retiring or dying for the classical avengers i.e Thor/Cap/Iron Man/War Machine/Black Widow, Hulk, etc.. and so they could not have killed them off seeing as it'll be their last time reprising the role.

This post can be seen by anyone. You probably should edit your comment to not include spoilers.

Harrison Holt-McHale

I guess I didn't let myself feel ANYTHING at the ending, my mind is so set on 'but they've announced sequels for character' or 'black panther made billions' as reason to feel nothing at some plot points.... its like well they're definitely not gone so its not sad... think I needed to be in a different mindset when I saw it.

sam

Thank you guys! This was an excellent conversation, and almost two hours long. Everyone was really passionate and had a loooot of good points. The movie was picked apart and handled very thoroughly, and what do you know, it's an instant classic. I really loved to hear all your takes. Man, what a film! MCU, an incredible thing to exist. L&R

TIL Kyle has emotions

Cash

I'm glad they brought up Doctor Strange's power level. I was a bit disappointed they downplayed it until the final moments of the movie, but guess it doesn't really matter because where they went with the ending. So happy to hear the "ooooo" and "aaaaah" from people in the theater with his abilities as he's my favorite of the bunch.

Rappy

Lol did Ian quote David Graeber's essay on Superheroes being reactionary?

Was kinda hoping discussion wouldn't delve into leaked footage from the Avengers 4 set, but this was still a great video. Can't wait for the next Spoiler Mode

Karl Williams

Not to mention it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway. I didn't see Dr Strange complaining much, and he saw the scenario in which they won.

Daniel Askew

Also in the opening shot the Asgardian vessel is shown to be broken in half, so it can be assumed the other half of the ship was spared.

No Huber though? Hopefully we get his thoughts on Reaction Shots.

yaaaaassss. I was hoping this would be over an hour and got almost two. Can't wait to dive into this bad boy.

I agree with Kyle on his rebuttal to Damiani's complaint about Peter Quill, it actually fits really well with his character. There's a lot of people who made mistakes that led to Thanos winning, I think Quill is getting an unjust amount of flak simply because his mistake was the final one. Quill's rage from learning Ego murdered his mother snaps him out of his stasis in GotG2 and that anger gets him through the entire fight. In Infinity War he really tries to reel it in and keep it cool when he learns that Thanos killed Gamora, when he yells "Tell me you didn't do it!", and he only snaps when Thanos says he "had to do it", and I think that's because Quill earlier DID have to kill her and Thanos basically emotionally terrorized him by actually making Quill pull the trigger on the woman he loves, only for his gun to fire bubbles.

~1:02:00, Vision kills Corvus Glaive with his spear by stabbing him through the back.

Garrett Fox

~56:40, the popular consensus is that Thanos is speaking to child Gamora within the Soul stone. The setting has a very strong orange tone in color, the same color as the Soul stone.

Garrett Fox

~44:00, in the opening dialogue, you can overhear on the distress call that the surviving Asgardians (presumably including Valkyrie based on The Russo Brothers comments post release) escaped in pods. My guess is Thanos let those escape pods go, in order to keep his "only kill half" princples in tact.

Garrett Fox

yeah Brandon had a lot going on today, but we'll get the audio up as well

Easy Allies

Is this going onto the private feed?

Daniel Askew

Hells yeah! :p

Celso O'Donnell

i've seen it 4 times so far and the public response is the same, nothing but despair and thinking what the hell just happened, i love this movie so much

Daniel Garza Andrade

Honestly left the theather feeling eh... its good.... A couple scenes took me out of the movie super hard. The ending I felt almost no loss (a couple people i think actually mattered) and never felt the climax. Not sure if because there was always action moving so the hype was up the entire time. Im excited for the next movies but this one is maybe #4 MCU movie for me

Ritz1906

It also looks like I'm going to have to go see this now.

Between this and God of War, Huber has ascended into his next form. He has been engulfed by the hype and has been removed from his body.
