Hello Mr.Jones, I was wondering about something. How does judges week work. Do they take you to a room with a ton of games. Do they take you from small room to room to play different games or do they have you all in one room and show each game one at time? I know you can’t say anything about what you played. Hello Mr. Jones, Do you feel fighting games reviews are generally not that great? For as long as I can remember to present day it seems like fighting game coverage & reviews almost always end up being kinda of bland in comparison to other genres. First person shooters, platformers, puzzle games & RPGs don't seem to have this problem. Even complex strategy games have great articles on them if you look around. I'd guess the barrier to entry on fighting games being so high in comparison to other games is problem but it just feels like it gets left out most of the time. I only ask this because I saw another outlet do a preview of the upcoming Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. They pressed a couple buttons talked about the persona characters because they're only familiar with those characters from their games & then said something along the lines of if you like fighting games & anime you might like this. If a review does come out I don't have high hopes for it. There's more I'd like to say about it but that would make this comment way too long. So my only hope in Star Wars is no longer just Respawn's game. I recently discovered a mod for Empire at War called Thrawn's Revenge and it's really damn good. And with the recent re-release of Star Wars Racer plus Battlefront 2 2005 getting an official multiplayer update maybe it's time to look back to ye Star Wars of old instead of the current batch of Star Wars "games". Question/Game: Choose a separate Star Wars game for each of the following updates. An expansive mod that reworks the entire game An officially supported re-release on all current platforms (would include working multiplayer) An HD remaster on the level of Shadow of the Colossus

Hey Brandon! I wanted to talk about a slight fear I have when the allies eventually move into the studio. When similar channels have gone from the "at home" feel to a true studio style, the vibe has changed. It became less "friends" and more "business partners". This is something Kinda Funny dealt with after moving to a studio, where it began to cause tension between the members. Almost two years later, they've found their balance, but it cost them one of their members. I fear that this will happen to the allies. A studio could change the vibe and positivity and make it seem more like a business that needs up keeping which could cause hostility among the members. I know I'm rambling a lot, but I wanted to express this and hear what you think. Thanks, love and respect!!

Hi Brandon, I’m curious about how you view trophies/achievements, in particular three things: 1) should they they be mentioned or discussed in reviews, 2) does the Switch need them and 3) which game do you think implements them best? I have a love/hate relationship with them. There is something very satisfying about hearing a trophy/achievement pop. But at the same time I’ve noticed that since their introduction I’ve steered clear of games that I knew I had no hope of getting 100% on. Additionally I find that in some games I end up playing them in a way I wouldn’t normally play them just to get trophy/achievement or two. Since getting a Switch I’ve love the feeling that I can just pick up a game play as much and how how I want without something keeping track of what I’ve done. Best trophies/achievements I’ve found are in Mass Effect 1, where each trophy unlocks an in game bonus for that player in the current and subsequent play throughs. L&R Kearn

Morning Jones, As a big fan of the Red Dead Series I was curious about your opinion about its place in the larger narrative about the foundation of our nation. We have this largely ahistoical notion that the west was 'won' (or conquered or settled, notice a theme there) by lone rebel men and their guns operating independently outside the normal strictures of morality. However their moral turpitude is framed as an almost noble sacrifice for the good of the nation. The implication being that if it weren't for theses real men who were willing to go out alone and do the dirty work necessary our nation wouldn't exist and that the only way for the west to become part of America was through dirty work. We can see echoes of how this toxic idea reverberates to this day. Look at a modern day western, Breaking Bad. Is Heisenberg not an ideal cowboy, going forth and carving a future for himself with his wits and ruthlessness, refusing to be bound by the foolish rules of civilization? And isn't that willingness to defy the rules precisely what he is lauded for. Sure sure he's a terrible man but aren't you just a bit envious of his freedom. This notion that civility is something which holds us back from what we are truly capable of is a dangerous and destructive fiction. Even more strangely it is the legacy of a narrative that is a relic of the wild west shows of Buffalo Bill. That cowboy was never real at all. The west was 'won' by government deceit and violence against the native population and it was 'settled' by women, mostly madams not the lone man in black. So I suppose the question is Jones, does Red Dead's place in this deeply flawed narrative tarnish, in any way, your experience of the series? And as a related, but separate question. Hi Jones! Hope you're doing well. I just had a question come to mind I'd like to present, but if it seems too pointed or comes across as harsh, I totally understand you dismissing it (and I promise that's not the intention). This question came to mind after the most recent Cup where you addressed the fact that you guys have in fact reached out to other creators, and that part of the reason they hadn't agreed to do business was that you guys may not seem 'big' or 'important' enough. I'm curious to know whether or not you (specifically or the collective Allies 'you') ever become frustrated with the rate at which Easy Allies is growing. With groups like KF, Funhaus, What's Good Games, Noclip, etc gaining popularity at a seemingly faster rate, is there ever a feeling of frustration, or even (and I doubt it) jealousy? Or are you content with where you are now, and when you get bigger in the future, you'll be happy in that moment for where you're at then? The later is what I lean towards being your answer, and that is admirable if so. I just think to myself, especially as an avid and long-time (altho silent) fan from the GT days as far back as waiting for the Halo 3 review to drop, you guys are all so super talented, friendly, hilarious, and unique that you should absolutely be up there in subscribers, patrons, twitch followers, etc. with the best of em! Just to share my own suggestion. If you remember Ben Hanson that was on the podcast a few months ago, well he hosts The Game Informer Show. It’s one of my favourite podcasts outside of EZA’s stuff, and is normally a good 2-3 hours long. It often has some really interesting interviews with developers near the end too. :)

Jones, Long time fan, recent patreon, first time writer. Love all the work and vibes you guys do. In your opinion, what do you think the time table is for the Switch to be getting all major AAA games to come to it (From Software, Rockstar, etc..)? Or do you think that will never happen for the switch? I have not jumped on the switch wagon yet, but the wife and I are considering getting one, but simply due to lack of money and more importantly time, this would look like probably giving up my PS4 as I am the only one that uses it, but the Switch could be an option to get my wife involved in gaming too with Nintendo having some more accessible titles (Mario Kart, etc...) Just want your thoughts before I make a final decision. Also just your thoughts and love of the Switch is always super helpful. (for anyone else please comment below and let me know your thoughts)

Hi Jones, I recently became a patreon and caught up with the last few Cup Of Jones' (Jones's?) and this is the first one that I have the pleasure of commenting on, I completely understand if you omit this comment as it alludes to the editorial from last week and you may not want to rehash. But I do think it was perhaps unfair to mention DiamondCrusader by name as he will now have a sort of black mark on his name in a comunity that, from what i understand, he is very active in (this is maybe important for someone who I suspect has trouble in social situations) Hear me out, you couldve called him out by just reading the comment, this would mean he would still know that you were talking about him and that he did a bad thing, but without putting this target over his head (I'm sure the community will still remain to be respectful to him regardless but there are still those outliers. And its not that people wouldnt be able to find out who he was anyway by searching through the comments, I just think it was perhaps a little unfair to outcast him from this situation when you yourself said he could continue to learn and be a part of this community. When I was a kid, I acted a fool and said a lot of inflammatory things. As I get older, I still do it but to a lesser degree, only with very very close friends, and I recognize that there are consequences for my actions. As a pre-teen I never fully understood or necessarily cared about how saying all sorts of things without thinking it out thoroughly can have negative reactions with people. I'm glad I learned these lessons young. Who knows, maybe this user is a child as well considering there isn't some sort of age verification on Patreon. I just hope they learn a lesson and become better for it.

I definitely think there should be more clips from the YouTube content. Not just the discussions. There have been some really funny clip-worthy moments in the EZA Podcast, FrameTrap, EZA Update, etc. It could bring in more viewers but would probably also drive more current patrons/allies to those shows who don’t regularly watch them. The clips and checkin out series has made me watch some content I may not have seen.

Similar to clips - maybe a "This week in EasyAllies" would drive traffic and interest to other videos? Something like "At Frame Trap we discussed xyz. On the EZA Podcast abc was discussed. Spoiler Mode for X was posted, etc."?

I've been thinking the same thing. After I started watching KFGD regularly, I feel the EZA podcast has lost a bit of it's appeal. I still love it, but as the podcast is mainly focused on news, having only one a week now almost feels a little quaint in light of the daily discussions on KFGD. I imagine, however, that such a news show (daily or Monday, Wednesday and Friday as you suggest), is likely next to impossible to pull off without a studio. So it might be a good candidate for a post 50k goal on Patreon.

Hey Jones; your editorial really touched me and I will echo that I felt you were not only incredibly articulate but also very reasonable. You consistently act with a grace and maturity that is hard to find in the current world, and I want to express how much I do genuinely respect you. With that in mind, I thought it would be extremely interesting to gain your perspective on a question I have. Be warned that the question I have is somewhat related to the overall line-drawing discussion brought forth by the comment that affected you deeply, so I do understand if you do not want to discuss it (especially so closely to the time that the comment affected you). In fact, I apologize in advance if the question is considered inappropriate, but hopefully I will be notified if someone feels that it is inappropriate. I think one thing that a lot of interneters struggle with is this battle between frankness and, for lack of a better term, "sensitivity". In some ways, as a result of the comment that affected you, we now know and understand a bit more about Brandon Jones and the EZA community. While I would contend that this is generally a positive thing, it is unfortunate that it is the result of such a hurtful feeling. A lot of times, because we are ignorant to the human experience of others (as you quite eloquently discussed), we do not know what does offend them. Keep in mind I am not defending any particular comment, but the discussion made me think to finally ask this question. As a result, there is always some level of "discomfort" as a result of that ignorance, or from questions that to try to abate that ignorance. Of course, it is important to have lines, but I was wondering if you had any general thoughts from your personal perspective about how to balance that discomfort with the potential to offend. It can be quite difficult from an outsider perspective, at times, to judge whether or not something will hurt someone until it is unfortunately too late. In a sense, it's a bit unavoidable (in certain cases). How do we move forward and have these discussions frankly with an openness that can address the ignorance that we all suffer from in such a way that minimizes the negative impact the discussions may have? Are negative feelings or discomfort in some capacity necessary to truly understand where these lines are? You mentioned how larger "celebrity"-types like Donald Glover and artists or comedians can push around and find those boundaries, but can people who are just EZA patrons or Youtube video watchers or non-famous people search for them as well? And further, to what extent SHOULD we search for these boundaries? Anyway, I apologize for the extremely long post and the numerous questions, but this is a question that has honestly plagued me for a number of years now. While I understand there is probably no "one-size-fits-all" answer, I do want to know a diverse set of opinions for this, so I welcome comments from the EZA community (or anyone who somehow sees this question) as well. Also, I do apologize if I have offended, it was not my intention and I welcome criticism of my questioning. Also, if you feel that your discussion on this CoJ was as much as you wish to or have to say on the topic, I do understand that as well. As a result, I have attempted to focus the question more on those of us with a bit of a smaller reach than people like Donald Glover or Trevor Noah or Jim Jefferies or whoever, however if that does not provide enough room to give any more of an answer I understand completely. I was interrupted from listening to Cup of Jones by a co-worker who wanted to go to the store and get a drink. They had a Jones Soda flavor in the machine, so that's what I got because I thought it would be awesome to finish Cup of Jones while drinking a Jones Soda. Unfortunately, the Jones Soda was disgusting and I regret choosing it. Don't feel bad though, because I definitely don't regret listening to/watching you rant. The first part was a joke. I wish when I was younger, around starting college age, I wish someone would've said to me what Jones said in the editorial. I struggled with empathy and took my shock value and inappropriate comments as a badge of honor. I finally learned empathy and opened myself up to criticism and critique and my life is so much better. I understand exploring the darkness, I love true crime and darker stuff, but others do not and I learned to find better outlets and honestly keep some of my darker thoughts to myself from time to time. It's a hard journey but I hope the person this was addressed to took these words to heart and saw them as beneficial. Love and Respect to Jones and all the other allies.

Regardless it should be understood witout saying, you're always so well articulated that even a chimpanzee would get it. (with no ill meanings towards our fellow kin) It's so refreshing to encounter a media personality that really comes across as a genuine person. My biggest fear for the younger demographic, that is growing up in this "faceless" social-media hype, is that they feel they can hide behind a font. Jones, thank you for that editorial. I once offended one of the allies by accident. I drew a picture of a joke from the GT days just thinking it would be funny. He messaged me on Twitter saying he felt it was mean-spirited, and I have to admit my first reaction was to be defensive about it. Having spent time on the picture and thinking it was funny only to have that feeling crushed by a negative reaction felt really bad. Luckily, I took time to think about it, and responded with an apology, because I never meant to hurt anyone's feelings. We were able to come to an understanding and have been friendly ever since. Thank you Jones for being brave enough to admit you felt hurt, address the issue, and even give the person the chance to eventually turn things around. Even if it doesn't work out with him, I think the rest of us have probably made a similar thoughtless mistake in the past and wish we were given that amount of patience to right our wrongs. Hey Jones! Your friends at Kinda Funny did something a while ago which I believe was a smart shift to their content output. They added Kinda Funny Games Daily with two hosts everyday, rotating throughout the week, and is a pretty tight one hour show going over the news stories, and taking in some questions as well. I'm wondering if this or something similar, say doing a show on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday instead of every single weekday be a way to bump up your visibility. It might also be a way to give more of the allies a chance to host, or co-host, and offer more sponsorship opportunities. Kinda Funny Games Daily will have that specific show be sponsored by various companies and I was wondering if that's a possibility you guys could explore. Could also be another opportunity for early access to Patrons and get more of the community involved with questions for topics relevant to that day's news. It could be a nice revenue bump. I realize this might be a tricky proposition as it's more production resources, but it seems like it's really paid off for KF and think it could translate perfectly for you all too. What I love most about EZA is the positivity the 9 of you exude! The allies project a public persona of Love, Respect, and understanding, that is opposite the offensive, crude, cynical attitudes, and shock tactics of what is unfortunately common of most popular Internet content creators. The internet can be a cruel uninviting place, and sadly infamy is just as appealing as fame in this world ( even more-so in recent years) but I love that EZA chooses to stand against current trends and embody inclusiveness. What all 9 of you do is admirable and beyond deserving of praise, but you Mr Brandon Jones are one of my role models. It addressed a couple of trends that have disheartened me in spaces like these: the dismissal of sincere grievances and criticisms as posturing or "political correctness", and the framing of opinions given in reviews, podcasts, etc as judgements that must be impartial. When people express these attitudes, they insist on treating personal experience like a poison and obeying some vaguely-defined law of neutrality which, always, is their own outlook in disguise. Hey Jones, DragonAzul here. As a fellow Disney fan, I was wondering what your thoughts are about the Guardians of the Galaxy being added to Epcot and replacing the Universe of Energy ride? A lot of people are very upset about Guardians coming in and bringing a ride that is not educational, which was the original intent of that front half of the park. Epcot is the park I frequent the most over at Disney World due to the events they have going on all year, and for a while Future World has felt like a forgotten area so I'm torn about the decision. I love Guardians...but I understand the concern. Since the Maelstrom was replaced with Frozen it's seems to be a growing trend. Along with that, were you upset when Guardians replaced the Tower of Terror in California Adventure? Do you think Disney will continue to replace current rides with more IP focused ones? Business Question Disclaimer: I have made content on youtube and twitch for about 6-7 years. So I am very cautious about "complaining" about stuff, since I do not want to throw people under the bus. But I figured if I combine the criticism with a way to solve the problem, it should be fine. So I hope this is all good. I recently listend to the (at moment of writing this) latest episode of Frame Trap and EZA Podcast back to back. Damiani was in both of the episodes. And while he is making completely valid points, it is hard to listen to him because he seems so disorganized in expressing them. There are so many "like" and "and stuff" in his speech pattern, that it - for the first time - distracted me while listening to the shows. It's one of those things that "can not be unheard". So in advance sorry to anybody that won't be unable to not hear it from now on. You you think it would be worth spending some money to have Allies takes classes under a speech or acting coach. I know this is what some other show hosts are doing to refine the way they express themselves. In my opinion this would really help, since a lot of your content is audio based. Love you guys. Something that I've always wondered but never got a clear idea about, I know questions about specific games cannot be answered as an E3 judge, are you given the privilege of playing/seeing all games that will be present at E3, even those that are unannounced until a certain E3 showcase? While this seems like a thoughtful idea at first, it really isn't. As an artist who has seen contests like this before, it's basically the same as commissioning a Bunch of people for the project, but then only paying the one you like the best. You get all this free work, exploiting those who haven't been in the industry long or at all. If you want some different idea or variations, the more ethical way to go about that is to commission those you're interested in then go from there.

Jones, there’s something that nags at me sometimes when watching EZA videos, and I’ve been meaning to say something for a while. Last week’s editorial finally gave me the kick in the butt I needed to write this comment. I worry about you guys! I get nervous every time you use footage taken in your back yard, in an Ally’s neighborhood, or when one of you shares seemingly innocuous personal information like what kind of car you drive, what restaurants are close to your homes, etc. You are all very smart guys, so I know you try to be careful, but I worry that you may shrug off the risk of sharing a small personal detail here and there, not realizing what all those details could add up to. At Easy Livin’ last year, I was pretty alarmed when pizza was delivered to the beach house that none of you had ordered. I’m sure someone thought they were being very clever and cute by figuring out where you guys were staying and got a kick out of seeing their little prank play out on the stream. If they are watching CoJ as you read this, I’d like them to know that that shit was not cute. It was downright creepy. You’ve probably heard about this already, but earlier this year two popular Youtubers had a crazed fan invade their home with the intention of killing one or both of them. They hid in a closet, afraid for their lives, waiting for law enforcement to come. I don’t mean to scare you.. but then, maybe I do. I love you guys, and I don’t want to see anything bad happen to you, or your loved ones. Sorry if I come off a bit paranoid. I’m a true crime nerd (am currently completely engrossed with and overjoyed by the capture of the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer) and probably spend a lot more time thinking about these things than most people.
