Hey Brandon First of all, wow! I loved the new look podcast – pristine is a word that comes to mind. I know that from years working in live TV that live switching between cameras is not easy, especially when you are using the flow of conversation as a guide and with the disadvantage of not being able to communicate to your panel which camera is live moment by moment. Live directing/vision mixing is a complex craft and props to Ian who I thought did a bang-up job given, (I assume) that he doesn’t have a great deal of experience doing it. I know it can only get better over time as both Ian and the panel get more practiced at it. One suggestion; under the titles, I would begin on the wide shot and then cut to the single of Kyle as he begins speaking. It will visually introduce the panel and then establish Kyle as the moderator and give him authority over the proceedings with the audience. It may also be worth rehearsing the opening so that all the panellists know which camera to look at during the intro so that they can look down the barrel of the lens and really connect with the audience in that moment. Watching Brad on the podcast gave me pause for thought; he’s the only core ally to my knowlege who does not have his own show. This may be by choice or availability as he does his fair share of streaming and may be busy behind the scenes in ways we are not aware of but watching his style of commentary gave me two ideas for a show he could do if he was up for it. Brad Rant: Brad comes up with the best Star Wars sign off rants on the podcast and rants well in general and I for one find them funny and entertaining and would be up for a weekly gaming/movie rant editorial. Rad Brad: Often referred to as Easy Allies OG gamer by the other allies and due to his encyclopaedic knowledge of gameplay and skill playing games; I would love to see him take a game or a franchise and discuss the pros and cons, ins and outs of the gameplay mechanics and gameplay overall. Hey Jones, hope this question gets seen and included in the delayed episode of next weeks Cup of Jones, but I wanted your opinion on a merch idea for EZA. What about, podcast betting segment team shirts? I just listened to the lastest podcast, so that means one shirt for each of the 4 teams, Gorgeous Gorillas, Red Grouse, Droopy Eagle, Switcher Snakes. Each shirt could have an image of the team mascot, and the team name. And you could make one shirt that just says, “Time for Bets” with an image of each of the four teams. These are shirts that you could get re-designed every year when the teams change up. I would buy one of each of these shirts. So what do you think of this idea?

Hi Brandon, First time writing, I have a question that in a way has been asked several times, first let me apologize in advance, English is my second language and grammar is not my strongest. The question is on the studio goal, like yourself and many other allies I want the studio goal to be reach, however I have a concern and an opinion. I'll try to explain it the best I can, previously you mention that some allies, for lack of a better description, are full time employees for easy allies while others are part time, this base on the amount of money that they received. If the 50K goal is reach and the following months is not reach again, will this mean that in order to keep the studio, some allies can receive less money in order to continue with the studio? I'll prefer for all the allies to be full time employees and continue to do amazing work together and for that reason, I think it will be best to do the studio goal different from the patreon. I'm not at all familiar on the price for rent of locations in California or the size of the location that you will need for all the allies to be together, but if the 50K is reach only one month I assume that this will cover maybe a month or two of rent of the studio. It will better to do a fundraiser for the studio, that way the patreon money can be use in order to do more Allies full time employees, you will be able to search for a location that has everything you need and goal can be the deposit of the location plus 6, 9 or 12 months of rent, giving you some breathing room in order to move and not affect the money that everyone receives. I know better stuff for E3 just happen, and now you're focus on E3, but if you can chat it with the allies and maybe to test the waters, you can do a patreon poll, to see how many patreons will be open of the idea. Sorry to double dip but there's something extra that I wanted to bring to your attention with all the Love and Respect, and please if I'm wrong feel free to ignore this part and correct me, but For the fundraise of better stuff before E3, 3 goals were reach by this amazing community and if a remember correctly a dance off was offer after each goal was reach (10K, 20K and 30K), however the allies only dance twice, once for the 10K goal and at the end of the stream and I know this is completely selfish on my part, but I would love to have the other dance off now that the new cameras are in place, to have an amazing 4k gift of all the Allies dancing. Hi Brandon, I saw the most recent episode of Easy Update and it's very exciting seeing all of the new equipment but I have to ask and this is something I've been curious about since the beginning of shows in your garage. The Air Conditioning solution. I know there have been times in the garage especially during the summer where you guys are obviously hot. There has got to be some kind of solution, one where it's not too loud. I'm wondering if you have consulted anyone about this problem. I want you guys to be comfortable and not miserable. Hi Jones, business related question for you apologies if this gets a bit lengthy. This may very well be something you want to cover in the anticipated "Why we want a studio" video though. I'm genuinely curious about your shooting schedule and overall content production at present. Are you happy with it, or do you feel it’s something you could improve upon especially because of the recent surge in support? Given that the current base of operations for Easy Allies is your home, your obviously the person on the team who can most easily shoot or stream something. I neither want or expect massive details on the other Allies personal circumstances. But I feel like a little bit more context, on why we don’t see more more small bits of content cropping up from the Allies would help. You’ve obviously just invested quite a bit in the garage, do you see this resulting in more use of the location by the team? Or are we going to see the same amount of content until the studio relocation happens? Even some more use of the garage say for example for Allies steaming slots, where their home setup is to be blunt much lower quality? Or perhaps shooting the monthly Q&A together rather then from separate locations? I don’t want to come across as greedy, fully appreciate all the work you and the team put in regardless. Hello Dr. Jones! I like it whenever Easy Allies has guests on your shows. Looking into the future, I would really appreciate some interviews. Of course they don't have to be forced or a regular thing, but it would lead to some really interesting discussion in my opinion. And I recently had a thought: Easy Allies lives in the LA area. Legendary video game composer Grant Kirkhope also lives in the LA area. *hint* *hint*. He is a really nice bloke who always answers tweets, and who has appeared in many formats as a guest. When I pointed out that you two (or 10) live in the same area, he liked that tweet. So I think you've briefly touched on this before, but I wanted to ask your thoughts on R* calling their newest game Red Dead Redemption 2 instead of Red Dead 3 or Red Dead _________. They seem to want to pretend that Red Dead Revolver doesn't actually exist. It bugs me a little bit, personally. Because I played Red Dead Revolver first and really enjoyed that game. Plus it's not like the new games didn't inherit anything from Revolver, Deadeye is pulled straight from that game. So, despite the fact that it's Red Dead Redemption 2, I still call it Red Dead 3. Because I hate chronologically confusing sequel titles. For me, it's akin to Bethesda coming out with The Elder Scrolls VI: Skyrim 2. I know it doesn't really matter, but I just wanted top know your thoughts.

For instance, how long the reviewer played the game for. If the reviewer played the previous game. What the previous game scored on EZA. So for instance, State of Decay 2. Hours Played: 20. Played SOD1: Yes/no. Score for SOD1: 10/10 Not saying its vital, but it would be interesting to know what experience the reviewer has with a franchise. Are they coming into the series brand new? Jonesy, You're right about every one of you having your own vocal ticks. I feel like sometimes people are harsh on Damani, maybe it stems back to his troll-level of Nintendo support. (lol) I wouldn't worry too much about that particular comment, because while constructive criticism is important, having vocal and speech training it's necessary for a podcast setting. That's the joy of podcasts, that it lets you see the human side of people. I think it would only be important in the highly scripted video, like reviews. And because you read the reviews, and have for over a decade, you're very good at overcoming your linguistic ticks. "Uhh..." I say leave the podcasts the way they are. Vocal training and public speaking are only important if you're an actor, tv personality, news anchor etc. EVERYONE else has a linguistic tick. It's something taught to you in basic linguistics. In advanced linguistics you learn to identify them. I've listened for years and can point out every allies vocal tick, but it doesn't matter because everyone does a good job. Mike D isn't a news anchor, he is a behind the scenes tinkerer who gets on camera and expresses his opinion. IMO, he and all the other allies do a great job. Especially given the likely training levels of public speaking you guys have. Just wanted to say that. Don't worry about it!

Hey Brandon, Are there any games you feel invested in even if you don't play them? I find myself still rooting for Street Fighter to do well even though I'm terrible at it and haven't really played it since the SNES days, but it brings back a nostalgia of sitting next to my brothers as they played it. The art style and the characters are great, and Puzzle Fighter, a semi-spinoff of SF, is my all time favorite puzzle game. I feel similarly to Resident Evil-- too scared to play it myself, but love to others play on twitch. Do you feel this way about any games? Keep up the great work, rooting for that $50K goal!

Jones, Do you believe we will see a hardware upgrade for the Switch in the near future? (SImilar to PS4Pro) If so, what do you believe the timeline would be on such an upgrade? or do you believe that Nintendo has no true incentive to upgrade hardware to reach even the current capacity of a regular PS4/XBone I wonder if this doesn't happen it could really hinder the growth of the Switch as you guys already believe the "next gen" is coming as early as 2019. If this becomes the case, the already outdated technical nature of the Switch could show as very lacking and lose most AAA 3rd party support. Thanks!

Hey Jones! Just a heads up that you are more than welcome to not read this on air given the content, I just wanted to get this across in general. I had been meaning to leave a comment about the strange Youtube journey I've been on. I've really only ever had enough free time to watch one gaming channel's content, and so I've sort of wandered from channel to channel, enjoying content but eventually getting annoyed, generally by either negativity or immaturity, and moving on. Each move felt like I was moving a little closer to what I wanted, but only ever in small degrees. It's not like you can search Google for "great internet community", you have to traverse this endless web of guests on podcasts and guests on those people's podcast in order to find what you like. I'm not even sure of the exact time this started, but my best guess would be late 2013. It ended however, when I found my own little internet home at Easy Allies. Of all the places, this is the only one where I've made any kind of comment or any communication at all really. For the record, here's a quick recap: Co-Optional Podcast (TotalBiscuit, Jesse Cox, Dodger) Northernlion (Roundtable Podcast) Super Beard Bros (aka Jirard the Completionist) Day9 (to be fair I still occasionally camp out here for an excellent point & click game series) Zero Punctuation Jim Sterling Gamespot/Danny O'Dwyer Kinda Funny Easy Allies The original point I was going to make was somewhat negative, lamenting the podcast web and wishing that if I had only stumbled across GameTrailers back in 2013 instead, I could have enjoyed that home sooner and avoided those years of being a internet vagabond. But considering the news today about TotalBiscuit, I'm realizing it's more of an appreciation of the obnoxious British man who started this whole journey. I think I'm going to end the evening by listening to the Co-Optional Podcast, episode 15 featuring a young man named Kyle Bosman. He seems like a real charmer. I looked up the video where Huber pulled out his phone and started reacting to something completely unrelated; it was the Labo announcement reaction video, and he was distracted by some sort of baseball mini game in Yakuza 6. So yeah. That moment may have been peak Huber. For my actual question this week - the release this week of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (a NES Castlevania-style game set in the Bloodstained universe and created as a stretch goal from the Kickstarter) got me curious as to your history with Castlevania itself. For my part, I loved the NES trilogy, didn’t care as much for the Genesis or SNES entries, and was way into the SotN-style games. Never did get around to the Lords of Shadow trilogy or the N64 games. I think one thing that franchise has almost always done well was setting the tone through the music and art (almost always - looking at you, brightly-colored anime character art for the first couple DS games), while of course the gameplay itself was usually solid whether in the older level-based or later free-roam styles. I even managed to derive some enjoyment from the 3D games on PS2, and for what it’s worth I think Lament of Innocence has one of the best pieces of cover art of all time. How about you? Any fond memories of the series, or is it one you’ve mostly missed out on over the years?

Comment, not question: Chicago is in incredibly diverse city in terms of skin color, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, sexuality, etc. Just wanted to get that out there. Also, it would be funny and refreshing to see a GTA game not make fun of how superficial people are in LA or MIami, and instead make fun of how genuinely friendly people are in the midwest. Now for a question/pitch: a GTA-style game wherein you commit crimes but are sometimes thwarted by Batman, or a superhero like him. Eventually, your crimes bring you into contact with several heroes, and you begin to develop different relationships with each of them depending on how your fights with them go, Nemesis system-style. You start off as a petty crook and slowly upgrade your gear and personal stats until you're super-villain status. Along the way you can fully customize your look, adopted persona, and emblem. And of course, you get to choose your own name. What say you?

While I get the basic observation behind that speech pattern comment, I actually think that Damiani (along with Bloodworth) is one of the most organized and analytically insightful allies. He can come across a little nervous when doing "fast and loose" stuff (he obviously prefers having time to prepare), but I actually admire the thoughtfulness and depth in most of his contributions.

Not a message for Brandon but Brian who talked about fighting game reviews. Totally agree with you, and it applies to racing games too, and the reason for me is just that those reviews demand a specialist to get a good breakdown of the game. Generally when those reviews are made by people not really knowledgeable about the genre (most of the time), so they're gonna review "content" : how many modes, how many characters, and then give a vague description of the mechanics. Reminds me of the EZA Arms review for example, which was really lacking imo. Best solution for racing/fighting game reviews : find specialized youtube channels (like inside sim racing).

Last time was a just a heads up on how to pronounce my last name since my E3 care package (smashed eggs, lot of cans and a Batman mug in one piece) contained a signed letter. And don’t worry, you did fine :) Question: Instead of “This week in Easy Allies”, wouldn’t it be a better idea to drop a 5-10 minute teaser segment on Youtube a day or two before releasing the full podcast? This would require less work than a Easy Allies Clips type of video and would achieve couple of things: - Since your main channel doesn’t currently have any short form gaming news content, this would scratch that itch. - you would be promoting EZA podcast on Youtube in appealing and more accessible way. - you might get better advantage of the buzz of a game announcement / rumor / leak and drive traffic to your main channel. - You could tastefully promote your Patreon by adding a ten second “This is a clip from our upcoming podcast, please check out our Patreon to get early access” clip at the beginning of every video. Just to give few examples, here’s some sexy topics from recent podcasts that might have warranted their own YT video. Every one of them have an appealing title and length: “Rumor: Retro Developing Star Fox Racing Game”, segment was about ten minutes long. “Thanos Appears in Fortnite”, eight minutes “Spyro Reignited Trilogy Announced”, ten minutes I’m not saying you should do this every week but I’d love to see you guys give this a try during E3.

Hi Jones, Have you or the the other Allies considered applying for Twitter verification? With E3 approaching, you may see an influx of followers, and as I understand it, verification can help provide analytics as to who is visiting your profile and other engagement scores, as well as provide additional security to your accounts. In regards to the question from last week about putting together a 'This week in EZA' video and the reply that it would take a lot of time - I've been thinking for awhile that you guys could do something similar for Youtube that might also drive views but take less time - would a quick powerpoint preview video for each week work? Mock up a template that says "Here's what's coming up this week! Keep an eye out for these videos" and then basically put out the schedule from easyallies.com, and maybe add stuff like podcast panels, reminders for specials (E3, HoG, reactions, etc) - all of course, with a giant asterisk that schedules can change as necessary. :) i know it's all on the website, and I happen to visit it on a regular basis, but lots of people seem to forget it exist and might help the casual youtube view to remember to check more often for something. Hey Brandon, please read this aloud. No question, but just a comment I'd like to signal boost. Over the past while I've been hearing snippets of how much you thoroughly enjoyed Mad Max and the feeling it gave you as you traversed the desolate wastelands. I've had it in my library since it was a PS+ free game and didnt give it a whole lot of thought outside of your comments here and there since I am not one for open world games. I find a lot of times when I play open world games I feel like I get frustrated with not having a clear goal outside of a waypoint far in the distance for some story thing I dont care about. Despite this, I decided to give it a chance since I'm trying to clear up my backlog and boy am I glad I did. I love exploring this world. I love how attached you are to your car. I love going to a place and having it very clearly and explicitly say to me after I get everything that, you are done with this area, move on. I love stumbling upon things and being rewarded for doing so. This is the first time I've had this kind of an experience. Not even Breath of the Wild managed to get its hooks into me like this did. So, my message I want to signal boost to all of the Allies: if you have any chance to give, please give it to Mad Max.

Sounds like the problem is how the other guys decorated their studios rather than they being in a studio? What makes it impossible to make a studio into a unique and fun place? I don't think it is mutually exclusive. I'd like to think EZA knows how to use the studio the best way and create a great place to do even more fun stuff in than is possible today.

I was an avid watcher of all Rooster Teeth content. I remember when Funhaus started, that channel got promos everywhere. From the Achievement Hunter channel to the Let's Play channel even on the Rooster Teeth Podcast which was their biggest show at the time. It's definitely hard to compare the two when the variables are so different. Not to diminish what they'eve done, because they're an incredible group of people and keeping an audience is no easy task, but Funhaus got a great boost from their parent company. EZA has had to build themselves to where they are. I think they're doing great too.

to be honest i feel the growth of EZA has been very solid at least in terms of channel subs, aprox 50k year over year looks good and is comparable to channels like kinda funny considering they started with double the subs. and of course channels like funhaus are not comparable being a "gaming" channel that launched with around 600k and part of the RT family yes i'm weird and love looking at all this stuff fun fact the god of war review seemed to gain 2k+ subs alone.

Hey Brandon, got a quick question here. I know you've mentioned that additional content can quickly become hard to handle as the allies hands get full with content already in the pipeline. Having said that... with some of the shows going patreon exclusive, have you guys considered cutting out some interesting discussion segments out (maybe 5 - 10 min in length) of those shows and making them available to everyone? I feel this would meet a middle ground, where those shows and EZA get more exposure, while keeping the episodes patreon exclusive. Just some food for thought. Thanks for everything you guys do. Hi Jones, I was wondering, is the second camera and mixer gonna be used to get the same feeling as GT Time when we had a camera on Ian and another one on the podcast crew ? Does this mean you're gonna have a producer (either Damiani/Ian/Don) on every podcast now, handling the camera cuts ? I really liked that, made the dynamic pretty cool. I hope to see the Allies at PSX if I can go this year (I live in France, it's a long travel :p ). Thank you for your content, EZA makes e3 even more exciting every year. L&amp;R

Hey Brandon, probably an unpopular opinion here. I've been around since the start of EZA and that studio goal has always been something I've looked forward to you guys reaching one day. To think of you guys working hard and being awarded with a studio akin to the one you had a GT is a great thought BUT now that I've spent over two years watching your content daily I don't think I want that anymore. I often watch groups like Funhaus, GameAttack and KindaFunny in their studios and i can't help but feel like it's kind of samey and boring. I love the garage and all the things in it. It's unique and filled with things and memories from the people that support you. what sets you guys apart and i feel like it vibes with your attitudes. So maybe consider keeping the garage and like i think you said before, maybe renovating and updating it. It would be cool to see EZA and the space we've all come to love grow together,

As a Chicagoan who loves my city, I have to agree with Jones on the lack of obvious narrative. The two biggest narratives I hear about in Chicago are 1) the economic/racial divide between the richer, whiter northside; and 2) Chicago's role as a "center for liberal culture" in the predominantly conservative, small town-filled Midwest. I think a lot of the inequality narrative was examined in GTAV and I'm not sure how much Rockstar would want to go all-in on a race-based story. Similarly, Chicago acting as a Mecca for young people wanting to leave their small town feels like a watered-down version of Niko's story. A migrant story wouldn't feel as strong to me as his immigrant story. Anyone agree or disagree?
