Don't Skip - Castlevania: Rondo of Blood

Awesome "Don't Skip". Rondo of Blood is a Fantastic Game, one that I could not play until years after it originally came out. Easily one of the top 5 Castlevania games in my opinion... But also it is clearly the game that really refined the Castlevania look and feel to the series most iconic format & style. Its also the game that lead the series to go "super" (and kind of off the rails) with the creation of metroidvania games like (obviously) SOTN, AriaOS, PortraitOR. Castlevania Rondo of Blood is worth playing for sure, hard but fun, and with probably more surprises than one might realize at first glance.

Thanks Ben! I appreciate the fact that you voiced the video yourself, makes it more personal. Rondo of Blood was the first Castlevania I played and it's one of my favorite for sure! I'm happy to see that more people will be able to enjoy that fantastic game!

Hey Ben, Great job editing - I know you were trying to learn last year. I like the V.O. But honestly, Don't Skips should be much much shorter. Don't have to go into lots of intricate detail, it was almost too well written haha. I think something I would prefer would be 2-3 minutes, stating the key reasons why you're excited about the game. This is the game, this is what it is about, here are a few reasons not to miss out on it. I just worry it'll take more time than needed to create for you guys, when less work child do the job better. Great job again though, and have does look good!

Love that you continue steadily tackling the Don't Skip videos, especially for games that aren't necessarily 'new' per se. It's obviously a ton of extra work, but it's really awesome to see a lot of these games that you play in your time in between large releases that you wouldn't necessarily take the time to review, and maybe just need some attention in general (Rocket Knight and Trails of the Sky for example). It's admirable, and continually reminds me in a good way of how many cool small things there are out there that I often forget about when I'm concerned or stressed about my backlog of large releases.

I love it that Ben voiced this Don't Skip. It gives a personal touch to the review that makes it different than just "a review without a score". This could give Don't Skip its own unique identity if this new voicing format (voiced by the writer) is used in the future

Nice to see the other allies trying their hand at reviews.. give Jones a bit of a break hehe. Seriously though, I think its cool. On one hand I've always liked that GT and now EZA had a consistent voice for all content as I think it sets you apart from other outlets. This is a good way to branch out though. It feels more personal, like a friend recommending a game that they're passionate about rather than an official review.

Great job Ben, I'm not really sure about the editing since its not something I know much about but the video looked good, nothing made me go "eww" or anything... As for the VO, I think you have a great voice for it and would love if you did a bit more here and there. I'm not great at articulating what was good about it but you spoke clearly and it didn't sound like you were just mindlessly reading a script. So yeah excellent job.

Bold choice to VO and edit this yourself and you did a fine job of it... and I don't wanna take anything away from your work, but that being said, it is my humble opinion that Jones is simply the best in the biz when it comes to this kind of VO and personally I think his voice is a resource you should take advantage of whenever you can, so for my two cents, I would go with Jones for future Don't Skips where possible, though I would have no objections to you continuing to do these yourself either. As for editing I don't have much of an eye for that kind of thing but it looked great to me! L&R, Bynoe

I like it a lot! My personal opinion is that the VO gives it all the personal touch it needs - I don’t think you have to do the editing as well - it doesn’t necessarily contribute that much to making it more “Ben” :-)

I love this. I understand editing may not always be possible, but having the writer do the VO really differentiates Don't Skip from a review and I think really helps it stand out. I hope its something you all continue, not just Ben but all the allies.
