I think the last Don't Skip was pretty awesome. Wouldn't mind if every Ally had input for an episode where you guys can go as far back in your catalogue as you want. Modern gems like Hollow Knight were great for it but Rondo was the best one so far in my opinion. Favorite forgotten (now) relics is great for entertainment and history's sake. Coming into an age where people barely remember Killer7, Boktai, Darkstalkers, Klonoa, Parasite Eve, or Vagrant Story is kinda sad :( Much less informal than some sort of "retro" review and much more from the heart of what you guys love to play. In that sense it can become a platform to give shine for games that may never make it into even a Hall of Greats discussion, but should still be a must play for anyone daring to try it.

Now that I know how video editing works, i fully understand how that can happen

The Hashtagonist

It was supposed to come in when the Mega Sponsor was announced.

I haven't tuned in for a bit, but that random explosion scared the shit out of me

As an avid esports fan and someone who attended The International 2018, listening to you all not know about OG beating LGD in the finals was hilarious. It's refreshing to be reminded that however big my favorite game is, there will always be people who have never heard of it and don't know anything about what is going on. As far as the Don't Skip goes, I liked it a lot. I think more personal touches to videos, especially in short formats, can definitely make the Don't Skip series feel different from just a "late" review with no score attached. I think the format could also be more geared towards artistically-minded games that traditional scoring doesn't necessarily make the most sense for, given their relatively niche appeal.

Correction (Kinda). I watched that league of legends KT vs IG match. All though base races happen they are kinda rare. Most games of league usually end by one team snowballing out of control and dominating the other team. One player from IG (invictus gaming) was trying to take down KTs base, while three players from IG were trying to take down the other base with one other IG player trying to defend. In the end KT won that match. IG were only two auto attacks away from winning, so it was very close. IG ended up winning that series 3 to 1.

OF COURSE Sony dropping out of E3 would happen two days after you record.

Correction (probably): The game of the year nominees list is actually in alphabetical order. The odd one out is Spiderman, but that is actually Marvel's Spiderman.

I love this discussion about a new Final Fantasy and what you want from a new FF game. I just feel the need to recommend one that already exists, that I think ticks all of the boxes. It stands alone, has great characters, has all of the classic things you love about the older FF games, but some new twists as well... and that's Final Fantasy Type-0. I can't be alone having bought it mostly for the FF15 Demo. But I figured, I got this game, I may as well play it. The very first level is supposed to be really exciting and crazy, and admittedly it's just kind of a mess. But as soon as you get to the school, and the game opens up... I just couldn't put it down. It's the perfect bridge between FF10 and FF15. And though there are 14 main characters, the game finds a way to make you care about all of them, to make each one unique in their own way. It's one of the darker and more emotional FF games too, something which I think many of us hoped for from 15, but were left disappointed. Long story short - I urge you to check out Final Fantasy: Type-0 for that classic experience with a modern twist that you are asking for! Don't Skip!! L&R - Max

Damiani MVP this podcast. Some really cool insight.

Still have my Pokemon Gold and Silver strategy guide. So much good art in it. It also helped keep track of all the date and time features introduced in GSC like the Weekday Trainers and stuff.

Olf Himself

Oh man! 2 strategy guides I was surprised no one mentioned..and they may literally be the greatest guides of all time---the Earthbound Strategy guide and the Mario Paint strategy guide. ABSOLUTELY TOP TIER loaded with extras and art and personality. Snatch 'em up if ya can!

Raven Perez

As an expert on the score to Xenoblade X, I immediately knew what that last track was because only Sawano would name his music with number puzzles.

Phazonmasher

Enjoyed the Ragnarok Online mention. RIP Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World. You didn't deserve to be repurposed into the bland piece of trash that is Legend of the Second.

MBUN

Considering I complained the last two weeks about a low hum on the podcast, I wonder if that was put there specifically to startle me. By the way, the audio on this one was great. Nothing amiss to report!

MBUN

It's 1 dollar for your first Game Pass month but it's probably a limited time offer. They already did the 1 dollar for a month during in the e3 period.

Térence Caron

Yo the entire Assassins Creed franchise was made during the time it took to make FF15, save the last two. Think about that.

Jeffrey Tessar

Opinion Yell! is back, baby.

I was really hoping to find that he had, but Huber did not say “dude” upon hearing about Big Boy MkV

SureManCool - Drew

That Phantasy Star Online strategy guide was awesome. It came with an amazing poster too.

Robert A Iglehart

Just wanna say thank you to Damiani for his knowledge on this podcast. Hearing him run through the SquareEnix teams like that, his knowledge of the Final Fantasy Committee, his passion for the Nintendo Power guides, he really brings something cool to these discussions and I was impressed. Good job Damiani! L&R

fuyunotabi

Me too! I backed up the video to see if I missed something.

43:45 Whoops, Jones put the Mega-Sponsor explosion effect here instead of Podcast Halftime. I thought it was there to punctuate something Damiani was saying but nah.

DaleBastion

That rogue explosion at 43:45 scared the absolute shit out of me

Ian was correct - Second world was Communist/Soviet. The terms were coined in 1952 by French demographer Alfred Sauvy. He intended for the "worlds" to parallel the "three estates" model of pre-revolutionary France. He equated the capitalists to nobility and the communists to the clergy. The third estate (third world) constituted everyone else.

I opened Patreon and wished the podcast would be up, two seconds later its posted. Woot woot.
