I’m sure this list has been beat to death but I’ll just say this. If this is what the Allies truly believe in their heart of hearts are the best towns then I respect that and their process is fine. However if there was any doubt? I think this shows that they may want to tweak their process a bit

There's plenty of ire on here. I want to show y'all love and respect by saying that, while it's obviously edited and scripted and there's time put into this content, I think you could have put more variety into this video, given that it is a stretch goal and a real treat for your patreons. I think there's plenty of underrepresented titles on here from game franchises that matter to the allies. As an example: Animal Crossing Shovel Knight Assassin's Creed (Personally #2 for me but, I know there's many options here!) GTA Dragon Quest franchise Personal ones that shouldn't make a list like this, but are SO cozy for me. Sonic Adventure 1 overworld That hideout in the first Wolfenstien reboot (need to play #2 :{ ) The home base in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Just about any place in Mario Odyssey Garinham in Dragon Quest 1: This "second town" was huge for me as a kid learning how to play RPGs. Getting to it felt like such an accomplishment, like taking your first steps. Batcave in Arkham City Inaba in Persona IV

I get that top 10 lists are supposed to be fun and are inherently subjective but I really wish I heard the discussion that went into making this list. Zelda being overrepresented aside, what exactly justifies any of the BOTW towns? They bear by far the least plot relevance of almost all the Zelda titles (especially compared to Clock Town). This is a general complaint I've had with the series so far - the flavor text that goes along with each entry is mostly descriptive without really justifying its relative placement.

I doubt the footage availability was an issue - Look at all the games highlighted in the intro: Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (2011, PS3), Silent Hill 2 (2001 // 2012 HD Collection), promo footage for Animal Crossing: New Leaf (2012), Kingdom Hearts II (I think? either way HD collection 2014 PS3 // 2017 PS4), Demons' Souls (2009, PS3), Mass Effect 3 (2011), Monster Hunter: World (2018), Nier: Automata (2017), PT / Silent Hills (cancelled), Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013), ??, Stardew Valley (2016), LoZ: Skyward Sword (2011, Wii), Xenoblade Chronicles (2010 Wii / 2015 3DS). That's a lot of capture / footage / B-roll for nothing that appears again in the video.

When the video started of with Yakuza 6 I was like Yes yes YES, this's gonna be a great list, so many possibilities, but at the end I was like 'Easy Allies feels confident enough now to make their top 10's a troll series I guessss?' Had to put a dislike on it (#feelsbadman).

no love for black mage village from FF9. Hell even Treno or Lindblum. Going through Botw and very much enjoying it but the towns haven't been a strong point for me. Edit: No cities so that cancels out Lindblum and Treno but Black Mage village is stall a gem!

I don't mind disagreeing about a list, I think that is actually healthy and exciting. It is when I feel the list was done hastily, and without care. It almost feels like this one was made carelessly and is made to just piss us off basically, just to mix things up. As someone who supports and loves the allies, this honestly feels like a bit of a betrayal. If this was the first video I would ever watch of EZA I may have never watched anything else, just saying. I really hope this vid isnt the result of a really packed few months where no one really had time to give to help make the video enjoyable. It probably isn't the case, but man as someone who supports these guys and loves them beyond measure, it sure feels that way.

Yeah I feel this way too. And everytime anyone on the internet lavishes it with praise it just makes me want to go back and play literally any other 3D Zelda game. They had interesting towns at least.

So obviously at the very least there should be a one entry per game rule. I won't say series but maybe that's also a good idea. But also this one stings because the towns in BotW were one of the most dissapointing aspects to me. I felt they lacked so much of the intrigue and charm that was found in the series before. Just a bunch of similar looking buildings and people, 75% of which are either going to make vague references to the heros of old or freak out about the giant beast in the area. Hateno has nothing on Windfall, clock Town, skyloft, or Kakariko village. Lastly, I would be careful about a recency bias too. Anyways I was a bit dissapointed in this video like others because I overall love what has been done so far with top 10.

This might be the worst content you guys have ever produced. If you put the same effort and standards into this video as the others then it does not show at all. The vibes I get are "an intern googled for video game towns for a couple hours" But I mean, you very rarely make stinkers so that's why it stands out. Still, if you're going to 'sell' a show then you really need to make them count

I have no problem with the inclusion of several towns from one game per se - but somewhat one-sided choices like that call for some special effort in explanation and diligently presented reflection. The generalizing "it's just an opinion" / "it's a matter of personal preference" topos does not fly for me in this context: The stronger your opinions and the more professional your aspirations, the more crucial it gets to offer solid explanations and arguments to sustain your choices. I remember that some of the better GT lists always started by laying down some general criteria and considerations that guided the selection process behind them. Would be great to include some more background and deliberation like that in future lists.

This list reminded me of an important part of Gametrailers that has been missing... disagreeing with the top ten lists and arguing about it in the comments section! Seriously, the lists have always been goofy fun. It gives us all an opportunity to hash it out in the comments section. None of the towns in Breath of the Wild would have made my list, but complaining about the over-representation of one game is part of the fun.

Yeah, seen people complaining about towns that aren't havens not being included and cities or larger that are too big to really be "towns" not included, which is somewhat understandable confusion, but I know Jones gets really strict with definitions for these lists, so much so that I'm surprised villages were allowed.

I figured i'd mention as well, for me, Kakariko Village is probably the most well known town in the Zelda series. I really enjoyed all the towns in Breath of the Wild, including the ruins of Castle Town, but Karariko is the one that always seems to be present throughout the series, I have fond memories about all its incarnations. Also, good call on including Silent Hill in the opening of the video. The list itself was more about towns-as-havens, and even though Silent Hill is one of the most iconic towns in video games, it definitely isn't a haven.

Again, this is preference but I found most towns in Oblivion to be far more memorable and detailed than Whiterun in Skyrim. Imperial City and any of its boroughs has a side story and incredible lasting music to plant a memory in your head for years and years to come.

Yeah, I gotta say I'm not feeling this one either. Zelda getting 4 entries I think could be argued if you really wanted to, but 3 of them from Breath of the Wild is not only (in my opinion) inappropriate, it makes for a very uninteresting and deeply unsatisfying top 10. Even if these are you guys' real, genuine opinions, and I believe they are if you say they are, I think you have to know how uninteresting the choices are when you're making a list like this.

Man I felt like Zelda Breath of the Wild was barren and relatively mundane. I was running around exploring the Desert Town (Gerudo?) and there was basically nothing to explore or discover less maybe one side quest. Surprised all these Zelda BOTW towns made it. Have to say, BOTW might be the only time I’ve felt let down by critics. I felt like they generated more expectation than I ever had in the first place. None of these towns left any sort of impact on me in BOTW.

I was hoping to see that or Frontier Village. I love most of BotW's towns but they don't hold a candle to Xenoblade's. Colony 6 is even a much better version of Tarrey Town.

What were the 10 to 20 ish towns you guys cut down to get to these?

My problem with the list isn't that there's three BotW towns or four Zelda franchise towns, but rather that I don't think the entries written for Hateno Village or Tarry Town justify their places on the list. Being able to own a house somewhere doesn't make Hateno an outstanding town. Tarry Town would be on Top 10 Sidequests, but the town itself isn't especially special. On the opinion side, I can think of better BotW towns not included in this list like Zora's Domain and Kakariko Village as well. If you can't back up multiple entries from something, you should pick the one best from said game or franchise and spend longer thinking of less recent towns you love. I know you guys can pull better from all of video games. Jones didn't even want a Red Dead Redemption town on there? Damiani didn't bring up Ding Dong Dell? Ben, Ian, etc. forget Inaba from Persona 4? Just feels like the discussion part of this Top 10 was rushed when you think about all that's missing.

Nothing much for me to add that others haven't said before me. Extremely disappointed with this list. I know it's opinion, but BOTW to me had the worst towns in the series. They were so lifeless and uninteresting.

Loved picks like Clock Town and Rogueport but how can you guys debate over the TOP 10 best towns in gaming and then put 3 BOTW towns above nearly every town from every game not on the list? I just don't feel like the content or explanation justified the placement. Wouldn't even expect BOTW in a TOP 50 towns list.

Accusing the allies of not putting alot of work into this feels very unfair to me. I mean, I completely share the sentiment that three BotW entries are overkill but I do respect them for sticking to their guns on this. Having said that, I do heavily disagree with this list. :D BotWs towns felt jolly but shallow to me (except for Hateno). For me alot of Zelda here would be replaced by Dali, Inaba, Mineral Town, Yharnam, Silent Hill etc. L&R

That this video got past the usual high bar of quality control tells me it was a new process designed to get these out faster and that that process is flawed.

No Orgrimmar?... or Stormwind? Really guys? Didn't have to include either of those, but 4 Zelda towns, 3 of which from BoTW. The towns in Zelda games aren't even very good, they all feel lifeless with very little to do in them.

Not my favorite list due to the over represenation. I can think of so many good towns in games that I would've put on this list. Traverse Town from Kingdom Hearts. Fisherman's Horizon from FFVIII, Dali from FFIX, Pallet Town from Pokemon Red/Blue, Any village you inhabit from any Animal Crossing game, Balmora from Morrowind, Tien's Landing from Jade Empire, Majula from Dark Souls 2... I am could go on but I just want some more spicy pulls. Some of these were great (Yakuza 6 and Skyrim's were great additions, Clock Town from Majora's Mask is a phenomenal one). I guess I just want towns that are iconic to the game or have a very specific or important vibe/role within the game they represent. The three BoTW entries kinda made each of them feel weaker just by the multiplicity. I appreciate all you guys do. And I look forward to future content. Even if this was in my opinion a misstep like anyone makes, I still believe in you all fully and my patronage stands. Keep up the good work

I hope the game footage availability didn't influence the choices on the list. That being said, a volatile dislike/like ratio is to be expected in some top ten opinion piece videos. Not the end of the world though, overall the quality of the video was top notch. The lower thirds were added in response to the previous top ten video which imo was a good addition. I still love EZA content, but I really thought these top 10s meant something a bit more to them and the community. Of course this is nothing serious, but I would rather top 10 be something that didn't feel so weighted, and I will be honest and say that bothers me a bit. I will still of course love and support them, no anger or hard feelings here just to be clear since a lot of people are getting rowdy in the comments. My personal picks are probably Arni Village in Chrono Cross or Beseid Village in FFX. Their themes are also incredibly cozy! I think a top ten starting towns would be interesting!

I can totally understand the argument of having these many LoZ towns. But, come on, if you know a list that has four entries from a series, might as well create a list for that own series. I don't like the "one entry per series" kind of rule either since it doesn't really reflect the actual preference. I guess this is just not an interesting list for me.

Nugene I can definitely see that being a top one as well. I guess it felt more connection to it because it stays together in the end after your quests to bring everyone one in a big melting pot and they live “happily ever after.” While MM had in depth side stories too, since you reset time it goes back to crap and that lady still gets robbed but link just keeps the key items, toilet hand will need paper again, etc etc. but either one would’ve been good. If they had 2 I’d be ok. But Hateno? Nah hard pass.

The quest to make it and the music are what's great but once the Town is made there is nothing to do but restock. I think Clock Town is superior with all the side quests and the main game revolving around that area.

I know top 10’s are opinion pieces but this is a bit... unfortunate. I saw that Blood said they had decided on this list a while back but with the whole group being so diverse with their own tastes it’s kind of shocking that it had so many Zelda towns. Also Tarrey Town is easily the best of all the Zelda towns.

Guys it is literally just a for fun list, this kind of reaction over something so silly is not a great way to make them want to produce more top 10's for us.
