I feel like the Bowsette stuff would be more topical and relevant, because who knows how much longer it will last, but I kinda want to see what kind of system Nintendo would use. Would it be like trophies, where you're getting a trophy for getting trophies, or like achievements, where you just get a number score?

Considering how low they wanted to keep the OS in Switch to the point it doesn't have music, I suppose they'll keep it simple until a new iteration of the system. The only thing close to achievements have been the hint art in Mario Odyssey. I do like the idea of achievements working as trophies in Smash just on a system level. I mean with the ease of pulling models from other games the most work would only be adding to the mode to display those models.

Achievements look like a boring discussion. [BotW] Collect 100 sapphire, complete all shrines, beat 5 lynels. collect a star shard in less than 3 minutes. [Odyssey] Find all the secret coin stashes. Complete all Toadette achievements. Complete X mission without jumping. All in all, IMO few achievements are great, most are mundane and some ask you to play the game with a handicap. While Bowsette hype is ending the niche will persist. I could see a mention in a Mario and Luigi game. I wonder if the allies could compare that with other fan characters like Eggette, or how Linkle did found a way in Hyrule Warriors. Also the mention that Nintendo considered something similar for Mario Odyssey. Still I suppose it's fair Bowsette and Achievements are so close since at this point they have the same chances of either happening. Hehehe.

I think the concern is we think the Bowsette meme is on its last legs, and the time to capitalize on it is ending. Either we do it now on Friend Code (if it gets voted in) or its not going to happen while its relevant. Honestly, we should have done a video for this last week. I think the Trophy/Achievement thing is a fun topic and personally I'm rooting for that one to win. - Damiani

This is not really a take on an individual trophy but ways Nintendo could actually deliver them. I could see Nintendo's take on trophies in a few different approaches. Each would be unique enough for Nintendo to claim it as their own "Nintendo like" approach. I was really bummed the WiiU did not take advantage of the stamps unlocks on the Miiverse as it would have been an awesome way to carry over achievements to other games. Like getting 120 stars in Mario would be a star stamp you could use on any Nintendo board. As an award visual or theme I could see badges and ribbons being used. Each game would have a board or even a scout sash that would pin the awards on as you earned them. I could also see Nintendo using an shelf/amiibo like interface where maybe cards are the trophies and the platinum would be an amiibo like figure on a virtual shelf.

The achievements idea sounds the most interesting as a podcast topic. I honestly think we could rank the first three SMB right now in 30 seconds. Arguing between 3 and World is the more interesting discussion, and even that has been argued to death. While Bowsette has turned into a fun little craze, there's not a ton of interesting stuff to discuss solely focused on Bowsette, but if the conversation was opened up further to discussing wishes and aspirations for the Mario franchise's underappreciated side characters and possibly enemies in future games and such, maybe that could be an interesting episode to do in the wake of Nintendo disrespectfully "powering up" Toadette by giving her a Princess Peach body in her first playable appearance in a mainline Mario platformer outside Super Mario Run, unless you actually count Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker as a Platformer, but who would do such a thing? Would include topics like why did the enemy Spike suddenly become a character the devs decided to make playable in spinoffs like Party and Tennis? Who's the next Mario enemy to get their own Amiibo? Will we ever get a full game starring Bowser or his legion? Does Waluigi deserve to appear playable in Smash? Is the panel satisfied with where the Luigi, Wario, Yoshi, and DK branches of the Mario franchise have extended to, and if not then how would you improve them? Beside all that you could work Bowsette in with topics such as is it time for Bowser to finally move on from his romantic obsession with Peach, does this mean Nintendo should introduce a Queen Koopa, and how could this kind of shakeup effect the age old plot and formula of new mainline Mario games? Maybe I'd getting too ambitious, but I'd also like a brief history of Toadette, Peachette, and Bowsette discussed if this episode were to happen for people to fully understand the journey these characters have taken to Bowsette becoming the explosive trend we've seen the past week or two. It really is damn interesting how one artist's joke comic led to tons of popular professional Japanese artists drawing their own takes on the character, which exponentially exploded the whole thing in such a short time with the double cherry on top being finding out there was a strikingly similar design originally planned for Super Mario Odyssey, although among different circumstances. All of that is simply more interesting than laughing at some fanart.

Achievements: they could bring back Miis and tie game specific costumes to in-game achievements. Wearable trophies! Imagine playing Mario Kart online and someone's Mii blasts past wearing an amazing Monster Hunter helmet.
