Assassin’s Creed Odyssey - Review

Comments

Hi Allies, just a question (Blood, I know you read pretty much everything :P), are there any plans in uploading reviews in 4k?

Huber's enjoying those microtransactions!

Another thing that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned in much detail was the ability to build up your ship and the npc characters you recruit actually fight with you when you board other ships. I thought that was a nice touch and gave me more incentive to recruit other npc's. They could've put more dialogue options on the ship though, maybe a system similar to mass effect where you can interact with your npc recruits, as it stands now you can't even talk with the npc's after your recruit them on to your ship.

It's not quite a Xena warrior princess VG but it seems pretty darn close. aehaehaeha

I am sorry but this is the first time I consider an EZA review to be properly misleading :(

There is just nothing about this game that makes me want to play it. I've watched videos, listened to podcasts and read the reviews but still nothing peaks my interest. Don't know why but it just seems bland to me for some reason. Maybe the next Assasian's Creed will be the one that finally brings me back.

Great review. I was waiting on this. And really good work on avoiding any spoilers as this was clearly all just part of the starting area and some non-descript bases further on.

Is this something you heard from a reviewer or your own personal experience? Because people have different experiences with games. if you recall back when Brandon Jones reviewed Unity, people were giving him heat for not mentioning the bugs... His response...he did not encounter any bugs in his playthrough. Experiences vary reviewer to reviewer.

Same, I feel as though this was more of a problem with reviewers beelining the main plot. But Huber took his time to explore and do side-quests, so he never got gated from any mission.

Microtransactions aren’t an issue, I’m playing on hard and the game is fine. People on the internet are just overreacting as usual. My problem with Huber’s review are his comments on gameplay, I’d challenge him to up the difficulty and not turn on the poison or fire weapon perks, having to be forced to parry and time dodge and use all the game mechanics make the game a lot more rewarding. Obviously you can play any game however you like. But for a review if your mashing R1 through the game, like he admitted during his origin review, than your not playing the game as intended and you’re not accurately representing the true gameplay depth.

¿ Is it just me or are Jones' "S"s a bit too sharp ? 🙉

Huber, i love you but theres no way in hell that game is a 9/10. the shadyness with the microtransations alone takes a lot away from this game

Had a chuckle at "it is a rewarding system because you constantly earn greater rewards". Hard to argue with that.

Nicholas Bobbie

I wouldn't say that. Huber's a very hyperbolical person and we love him for that. But this also means his scores are more extreme. I would say AC Odyssey is an easy 9/10 from what I've played so far and I am not an AC fan anymore since Black Flag.

Is Huber the least critical Ally?

Jeremy

Score seems high considering all the negatives brought up in the review, especially the subpar combat that you would think would constantly detract from your experience, but guessing those new elements, tweaks to old ones, and return to some beloved aspects of previous games in the franchise were strong enough to deliver a fun package in spite of the bad combat? Or maybe just patting the devs on the back for going "in the right direction" with the franchise? Either way, good job on the review Huber.

Thanks, Huber!

I'm not Huber, but I'd say that the grind is only really a problem if you're not interested in side stuff. If you're trying to blast through the main quest alone I can see it being a problem, but I was overleveled within the first few hours from side stuff and am still overleveled deep in the game.

What about the microtransactions? A lot of people are reporting that the grind is far too much.

John

Very nice
