Friend Code: 2019 Preview and Predictions

Comments

I just re-upped my pledge to back at the $5 dollar level so I look forward in being able to participate more in the questions portion for Friend Code! Great episode and I loved having Ben and Huber on as this week's guests.

I haven't played a Mario game that needed DLC in my whole life.

Super Meat Boy Forever is a weird situation overall. I know Damiani is hyping it up, but first thing you should know is that the game isn't even made by the same people responsible for Super Meat Boy. Next you should know it was originally intended to be a mobile game, but then they decided to release it on consoles. You should know it is more of a runner game than a platformer like previous entries in the franchise. Lastly, you should know the devs had a falling out with the person who made the iconic music for Super Meat Boy, leading to later releases of that game having a worse soundtrack, so don't expect those rocking tunes in this new one. Now for the opinion segment. I don't think this game will remotely hold up to the legacy of this franchise. The controls look worse and much more frustrating than Super Meat Boy. You seem to have way less freedom with how you tackle the challenges. I think this should be considered a spinoff at best, and the only reason they're releasing it on console is to grab sales before people realize they bought a glorified mobile runner.

Talking about all these Wii U port dreams, and you all forget the most obvious choice - Xenoblade X. Sure, Takahashi said it's almost impossible, but I still want to believe. As for new Switch software, I need to know about Monolith's new action RPG they're cooking up. I don't think we'll see the new title from the Xenoblade team this year, but I think we'll see their traditional fantasy action RPG.

Of everything coming I think I'm actually most excited about Fire Emblem three houses.

I thought Super Meat Boy Forever was just another re-release as well. The problem is that it had been re-released so many times previously and the switch is being bombarded with re-releases in general. Honestly, I think they should've went with a numbered sequel in this specific circumstance.
