Trailer Jones - Trailer Trends of 2019

Here is, officially, the last thing we shot in the garage. I’ve been meaning to do this episode since December, and I thank you for your patience in receiving it. My various trailer shows over the years have evolved in lots of interesting ways, and I’ve wanted to try a solo episode to see if you would be interested in a deeper analysis surrounding a subject like popular trends from the past year. In a perfect world these would be extra episodes on top of each monthly installment, and perhaps I’ll have time for extras once the studio setup gets more and more comfortable. I imagine that some or all of these points have crossed your mind this year, but I think this type of work will become more relevant as the industry moves forward. Only time will tell if I’m right.

Trailer Jones - Trailer Trends of 2019

Really prefer this with just Jones. Easier to get into the meat and potatoes or trailer philosophy when it’s not multiple voices just scratching the surface. Great job!

With Fortnite though thats an ever changing game. Only thing you're really missing out on is skins.

Nice episode Jones. My main concern for the "one off events" is that as an outsider, I feel excluded. Sure it's fun for those who were there live, but when I see something like "Fortnite Season 6" I can't help but think "well what have I missed? Am I too late?', and unlike a TV series where I can watch old seasons to catch up, I'm left with little motivation to jump in while so much has happened already.

I love non-spoilers! I wonder if you could do a non-spoiler in a review? Imagine if you showed the RDR2 gang arriving at the 2nd or 3rd camp when talking about their first camp?

Matt Brookbank

Great job Jones, loved that perspective. I also don't care about "spoilers" (or deceptive trailers, if they aren't showing gameplay) so long as they are not spoilers of the end of the game. Most important thing is to tease and sell a mood. Ubisoft doesn't know how to sell a mood and overexplain their games as if they were selling it to children. Mystery is the key for me : Fortnite, Red Dead, Cyberpunk, all those trailers have a mystery to them. Far Cry trailers are basically : here's the plot, here's the hero, here's how you play....

Térence Caron

Non spoilers was my fav, thanks JONES

Jaylyn brooks

I guess I have the unpopular opinion here but I couldn't listen to this whole ep. I kinda checked out in the middle. Sorry Jones. Although it sounds like most people liked it so ignore me.

Man Riot already dropped another trailer with my boy Sion taking on 5 champions. I don't play LoL anymore but it's still great too see your main champion represented in a cool cinematic.

Miss Trailer Academy :)

This was my favourite Trailer Jones. I much prefer seeing Brandon talk about the "industry" of trailers rather than seeing people assign numbers of goodness to a video. Also Jones if you're reading this, regarding Non Spoilers my favourite example of that this year was when Ralph Breaks The Internet actually lampshaded this with their stinger after the credits.

Trailer Academy is back!
