Fancy Fifteen Episode One: Kyle

https://youtu.be/KJGwSLJ2ppA

Kyle takes on the first fifteen minutes of a game and then judges the whole thing based on that!

Fancy Fifteen Episode One: Kyle

Comments

I don't post much, but this Patreon post is everything. I needed this so badly. I never finished 3 of the Patreon series you guys started and it's about time I did. Now I can.

CompulsiveNerd

You guys are nuts, talking about off vibes and whatnot. This is exactly the type of content that the allies excel at. Only thing I'd add is a timer counter on screen for viewers.

Mark A

Finally became a patron due to this series! It's time anyway, been watching GT/Easy Allies since 2014!

DodoEgg

can't wait for the fancy fifteen lore to really deepen over these next few episodes

Maverick Summers

The teaser for this series on YouTube got me to FINALLY become a patron and the first episode did not disappoint. I'd be down with longer, less edited episodes like others have mentioned, but I'm fine with this format. Either way, big smile on my face right now.

hisownsidekick

I bought 15 and it only came with 12

E

I feel bad for whoever sent those in. They wouldn't work well on a show like this as lengthy story focused RPGs, and Ben really ragged on G.U. when he tried that, so I'm not sure anyone will ever touch the originals at this point.

MBUN

To not make the same as 1st15, I would suggest group of 2-3 (Kyle/Huber + someone). Each play 5-7mins and ratings at the end. No cutting, just hand over the controller.

Lauri Laivo

This was a fun video but I'm with the others that feel the vibes are a bit off compared to 1st fifteen from GT. The dynamic between Huber and Kyle debating on which game to play and the discussion afterwards I think is sorely missed. This felt more like watching highlights from a stream than an actual show. It might be nice to see just a random two or three of the guys try to agree on a game to play and then debate the final score, or maybe take an average from each individuals score.

miggity

So... will someone try .hack part 3? :P It's a sad place for the .hack series to end up :P "They belong in a museum" :P Also Stretch Panic being in there would be a good/confusing episode :P

PKFC

Would really prefer if this was an unedited 15 minutes, though I guess since it debuts on the main channel it would make less sense to the "regular" viewers. Super weird vibes from the video, maybe because of the cuts?

Love it. Thanks for bringing it back. EDIT: I also prefer the group dynamic. Huber made me laugh a few times, especially when he brought up SCORN.

I have watched these guys for years and this was the first time I got those exact vibes. It felt really weird for what I would otherwise call super genuine dudes. Forced, hyper aware of the camera. But it was also pretty good content, I have to admit, and this kind of stuff sells to the YouTube gaming audience so I hope this helps them get their numbers up (sidenote: if they do intend to effectively go after those viewers, that thumbnail is not going to cut it.) For my personal tastes, I prefer it with just Huber and Kyle just hashing out an old game and giving their honest critique of it. That was funny and entertaining in of itself.

D.M. Deyo

Just want to chime in and say I think limiting them to 1 minute to choose a game sounds anxiety inducing and removes the fun.

Jason Rumsey

You can tell they're using a newer Playstation that is (poorly) emulating the PS1 when Kyle brings up the analog menu. That at least explains all the graphical jank.

Jason Rumsey

The one criticism I can definitely get behind is the big group took away from the charm of first 15. In the future I'd like to see 2 man teams that are mixed and matched, then you get more impressions and back and forth instead of one guy basically talking to a crowd.

Jason Rumsey

Appreciate the series return but didn't really like the vibes. It was like a weird combination of live streaming and pre-recorded. It felt like it was supposed to be raw, but it felt badly rehearsed (or fake) at the same time. The old first 15 had a lot more genuine vibe about it. Perhaps just following 2 people instead of 5 might help, not really sure though. Difficult to put my finger on it.

Andrew Chalmers

YES !

Randy Verschueren

Really enjoyed the format. Loved this back at GT, but EZA is a different beast and I think having more of you there is beneficial. Also, I like the edits and no timer; increases the tension for the viewer. I get that people want to see the whole play through unedited. As someone who watches basically everything you put out, saving a few minutes of dead time here and there is welcomed. Looking forward to the next one.

Mark Benton

Love the supercut editing. It keeps the pace up and I don't drift my attention away to something else like I tend to do.

Cody Ficker

Since when did First Fifteen come back?! YES. Would be cool to cap it off with like a 1 minute review of a weird foreign snack.

V8 Dave

Feels more like a clip from a group stream than like a stand alone video, mostly due to the same casual feeling/location/etc. The editing is tight, but not sure how necessary it is since it's only 15 minutes of game, but I'm assuming it's to cut out most of the no talking/boring driving around moments. I prefer no timer on the screen. Entertaining either way, I enjoyed it. Fun banter

Bokthand

I think there was some fun to not knowing when the fifteen minutes would be up. You can experience some of the secondhand stress of the timer stopping the playthrough. And the edits are great if they cut out dead air and adds to the worry about how much time it left.

Tyson Nguyen

Loved the first episode but agree with some of the complaints here. Get rid of the cuts and show the whole 15 minutes with an onscreen timer. Less work for you guys on editing and more for us to watch. Win win. Also, get back to the 2 people format. Give them 1 minute to pick a game and 1 minute each to rate it after playing. That would be better I think.

Stefan Vlemmix

I agree with the sentiment that the edits seemed unnecessary. The show is called Fancy Fifteen and yet the video is only 12 minutes? I want to experience the 15 minutes like I'm there along for the ride.

Stardrifter

This is going to be a sweet, sweet series. "The makers of this game had a vision!" The optimism expressed by you guys is what separates you from everything else out there. No matter how bad the garbage smells, you find a something to love. Thanks for kicking ass, guys.

Nick Geurtsen

Check out "And For That Reason" in the exclusive shows section it's a treat.

Wow i never knew that game ever existed! And I had over 200 psx games... Just watched a speedrun, you should have tried other buttons, there is one to disembark your truck and go on foot, there are also dungeons on foot with bosses... and im not sure if it was your ps1 or the disc that had issues, but your game was MUCH darker than its supposed to be and the black lines were a graphic bug that I have not seen on other youtube video of the game. surely that game would have earned 5.5 or 6 then ;) hehe... also : (I'd also love to have a counter for remaining time)

Hugo D Hawk X

I would love to have a counter on the side to see how many minutes left.

Drey Oroceo

Please don't edit jump cuts in, its 15 minutes. EZA uploads 10 hours a week easy, why make more work for yourself when it only serves to subtract from the gameplay?

Mac

I really enjoyed this but have to say i am not familiar with the GT format. I will be waiting with great anticipation for the next installment. I found this most enjoyable. Were you playing this on a PS3 99% of PSX games work perfect but I have noticed one or two give me similar black lines, don't think this was in the original game.

PixelPolyPhil

Yes please, super happy to see this series again!

Eric Mitchell

I just became a patreon, and oh boy it was worth it! keep it up from Chile

Magdonal

The only review I found for Blaster Master was a 7.7 by Gamespot. Huber was right.

Kaleb

only just recently became a patron to just support the allies, and all of this content, they make me so happy, well worth the dollaridoos, Hi from AUS

Jack Forrest

YES!!! Loved it!

C.D. Hicks

Yeah I thought so too since they've already done a Fancy Fifteen and that was just a full stream. I think it works better though. Editing really adds a more pro GT vibe.

Lee

This was great. Loved the bigger group dynamic and not having just all 15 minutes unedited. Some might say they want it but it would become a slong real fast. Keep up the great work and can't wait for the next installment.

NowHoldOnaMinute

With how pressed for time you guys are I feel like cutting this was a waste. I wanted the full 15 at least offer the raw one as well. I really felt like I was missing out on the full experience I’m never playing blastermaster so I wana see it’s start

Matthew Palling

Loved it, just wish it was the full 15 mins.

Jeffrey Tessar

Sooooo excited this is back. I still go back to game trailers and watch some of them for the lols

Ritz1906

I'm finding it hard to disagree with the content of some of the criticisms in this thread, but I still found this a heck of a lot of fun.

James McCoy

I hate to be overly critical, and I know you don't just wanna retread the ground of what you did at GT... but this format just straight up isn't as good as the old "First Fifteen". Having a larger group really brings nothing to the table compared to the back-and-forth you got with the two-man dynamic, which was much more intimate and entertaining to watch. Also the video feels over-edited; trimming the fat is one thing but the cuts were too frequent and too obvious to the point that I feel like we didn't get a real idea of what the game is like.

Bynoe

This is awesome! Thanks for bringing back a classic.

Matt Kuryloski

Totally agree, the video is only 12 minutes and that includes an intro and outro.

Alex Sierra

It’s a little odd that we don’t see the whole 15 minutes. I get that sometimes it may not be interesting, so maybe put the timer in the video feed so we know where they are in the 15 minutes?

Owen

I think this was a rough start for the series, Bosman + Huber had a much better back and forth dynamic, also the door opening bit, miss those - it made that show unique. This seems like a super short and edited group stream. Liked Ian's shirt tho, great shirt. Hopefully you guys will make this show much better moving forward! Can't wait to see.

Eduardo

I lost it at the Death Stranding beams

Pablo Leiva

Loving this!

Jimmy Liljegren

I agree with Huber. The Phantom Menace holds up. :)

jif52

YES! I'd been wondering if this would make a return. So happy to have this come back.

Abe

oh man, I'm so excited this concept is back!

collin

So excited this is back!

TravelingSnowman

As someone who loved First 15 and can't tune in to streams, I really really love this. Great to see people having/making fun with, like, not-super-great games. Growing up, I only had access to crappy games. Videos like this are my childhood, distilled.

Cloisterance

YES!!!!

Ian Patterson esquire.

Just when I think I'm out....

ComboBreaker

Despite what Kyle said in the beginning, not all of that spread is from fans. I definitely see some things from publishers in there, and a few that I think are from the old library. -Bloodworth

Easy Allies

:) This is cool

Wait, this show is just about trashing the games fans sent to yall now? That doesn't seem on brand. Hoping it is just a quirk of the first episode being Kyle focused.

MBUN

FINALLY! The king has returned! So happy to see it back! Thank you guys for choosing this as the next series!

Parasitepaladin

Super happy to see this show return!!

RedVIII

Beyond happy this show is BACK BAYBAY

Robert I.

Love this! I can’t wait to see who picks Hannah Montana

Megan Linart

I miss the live chat release :(
