Quite happy with a few of the comments here about the metroidvania discussion. I would really like to point towards the GMTK youtube channel here since there is a whole season dissecting these types of games. Truly recommend the Boss Keys season 2 since the language is quite precise and most of the arguments used are based on gameplay evidence playing in the B-Roll. Also, like in the discussion, not going only with what we remember feeling of playing would be a necessary practice; specially regarding the amount of unperceived bottlenecks and linear paths that, for example, Super Metroid had. I agree that Microsoft dragged Crackdown out for far too long... but it isn't any worse than Kingdom Hearts 3 being announced at the launch of the PS4. I understand KH3 is not a first-party title, but still PlayStation presented it as one of their flagship titles that has now gone 5 years before coming to fruition.

Correction: Brad said that the Sony E3 2018 press conference "moved from room-to-room for each game". They only moved locations once (twice, if you count the intermission panel at the desk, with the starry background): from the TLOU church into the auditorium where the rest of the conference was located.

Yeah, Fortnite is full of jolly stuff sure, but you're still mowing down human(oid) opponents with guns most of the time. I get the whole sentiment of not having blood and gore keeping age ratings more tame as it is less likely to disturb someone, but the act of mowing down human(oid) opponents to be the last man standing is still inherently violent.

I disagree on Sony skipping PSX and E3 as a show of strength. It's a show of arrogance. It's late PS2/pre-PS3 launch Sony all over again. They think they're too big to fail, and are incapable of failure. While they will probably be fine on the backs of their first party output, they are pushing away consumers and third parties while saying, "You'll be here because you have no other choice."

While I agree that them leaving the ending of the disc of KH3 was a good idea, with regard to leaks, its a nightmare when it comes to game preservation. What happens in 10 years time when you decide to dig out your dusty ps4 and play through your disk copy of KH3, but can't see the ending because the update servers have been turned off? There is no way that these companies are going to keep these servers running indefinitely, so this will become a problem at some point. I can still (and in fact have done numerous times in the last month alone) dig out my SNES/N64/Megadrive/PS1/PS2/Xbox etc. pop a cartridge/disc in and get a complete game. This is slowly becoming impossible, and will become a huge issue sooner than a lot of people think.

One suggestion for next year‘s podcasts: This week we have two, but you really should make time for more than one L&amp;R question per podcast which is what we seem to have gotten the last few months. It doesn‘t need to end in a long discussion but I think people will be happy if their chances ro be featured on the podcast increase a little. It‘s a perk people pay for after all, so I think it deserves a bit more space than it often has gotten.
