I think it's a bad idea to focus solely on one Anime especially one you haven't seen yet... I'd prefer you watch/rewatch blocks of anime (maybe a few episodes at a time if/when you free) that have already been established as good or bad and then doing a podcast on what makes them great or why you believe they aren't. Dedicate a much smaller portion of that same show to your opinions on more recent Anime instead. Why not start with Hunter x Hunter instead?

I personally would choose any of the other allies over any guest every single time but either way, I am very excited for this show! Thank you for the update Damiani.

I really hope Damiani at least considers this and disappointed this idea wasn't put to better use with Mob s2 as I think it will be looked back on as the better show after OPM is wrapped up

Mob Psycho 100 would have been the show to start on tbh since Bones went to work on that (and ended up being much better than OPM)

Damiani I hope you see this. Don't do OPM S2. OPM S1 was only as amazing as it was because of the concoction of talented artists brought in by its director Shingo Natsume. S2 is done by a different studio and most of these artists have gone off to do different projects. If you have seen the S2 PV, you can clearly see how starkly bad the animation quality has dropped compared to S1. I also don't feel the limited discussions every week will be make a good podcast show. S1 only had 'mass' appeal because of the quality in its adaptation brought together by the previous studio, director and artists involved. I really don't think S2 will captivate much interest after people realise how badly adapted it is. I think you should start off with something stronger and better for this new series; a sure fire anime show such that you can guarantee will generate a lot of passionate discussion in the anime community and speculation for the following week's show. I recommend you try Mob Psycho 100, a more superiorly written, funnier anime that is also made by ONE. Or if you want something current, my AOTY Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), either from the beginning from S1 and working your way through (this anime will be worth your time) or S3.2 (if everyone is caught up) which starts late April. S3.2 is by far one of the most anticipated arcs for the anime series of all time. Think GOT S8 hype/stakes. You can count on people talking about Attack on Titan every week when it airs. You can trust in WIT Studio to provide the same level of quality as it always has for this series. Both of these shows will have so much more depth and layers and surprises to them which would make for better discussions every week than OPM S2. Really hope you guys reconsider. L & R.

I think OPM is an anime that doesn't necessarily rely on the high quality of the animation as a selling point. I mean, half the time, Saitama's face is just a beige smiley face. One's writing is good enough to carry the story.

Damiani, Great announcement and all the best of luck with the show! I have only 2 questions: Do you plan on evolving the show to discuss Anime in general, like you do with Friendly Code with Nintendo, besides the weekly episode of a series? Do you plan on covering old shows? I would love to get an in-depth discussion from the Allies on Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, these are shows many of the Allies have said they've watched them and it would be great to get their take on why they're some of the best of all time. Same with Mobile Suit Gundam, Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bebop, Macross, and so many other masterpieces. I just want to hear more people gushing over them. Hopefully that will introduce them to more people. Great news and totally agree OPM S2 will have a much broader appeal though I feel Mob Psycho 100 is just so much better. The main thing is you guys watch the shows you want & not just go with what we suggest. But If you ever do I’m sure I’ll have some suggestions.

Maybe sometime in the future you guys would cover Vinland Saga as well? It was announced a while ago that it'll be adapted into an anime, (finally) and judging by the trailer it looks really promising. Anyways love that you guys are bringing us some anime content i was sad EZAnime was cancelled? But, hooray for this show!

For letting the patrons vote on what anime to watch, is there going to be some mechanism in place to avoid the current season's version of Goblin Slayer or Shield Hero?

Attack on Titan S3 part 2 will probably be the better anime, but i think OPM is the right choice for this show. Some recommendations for future seasons would be Dr. Stone and My Hero season 4.

I am just worried about the fact that One Punch Man is being done by another studio with lower budget animation. I guess it can still be great as long as the story is good, but season 1's animation was so amazing, that was a big part of it's appeal.

It’s damianis show just like friend code but I’m guessing it’s like reactions shots where bens a constant cohost. Perhaps that’ll change seasonally depending on who’s watching along. He does refer to dubbletalk n how he wanted to do something similar n no one really has. crunchyroll n rooster teeth have attempted something in the past but both those things got canceled due to low viewership. In roosterteeths case it’s actually ironic given that producers who did that podcast did dubbletalk as well then after the podcast got cancelled they admitted on a stream that wasn’t roosterteeth how much superior dubbletalk was lol.

I really enjoyed High Score Girl too and it would be a great cross section between anime and video games given the content covered. It also helps being widely available on Netflix and it's not that long with just 15 episodes currently.

Great idea! Anime is such a broad thing. I think doing it this way will make it easier for the audience to get into it and for the panelists to enjoy producing it.

Please don’t harp on production issues n how jc staff is focusing more on their summer titles but I know that’s a tall ask for some people. Yes it’s no season one but it doesn’t look awful. Viz’s thing is Hulu. They do tend to have free episodes a week behind similar to crunchyroll so you will be behind on their site compared with actual hulu subscribers despite it being the Hulu player. Most anime nowadays are 12 episodes so surely that helps the show’s future. Speaking of dbs I guess it’s good u held off on the spoiler mode of broly cuz now u can do comparisons n fresh discussions if they redo it like the last two movies.

For the anime, we'll treat it like we can talk about anything. If there is a show with a manga that is further along, we will not be going into "manga" spoilers and will actively avoid discussing anything from further into the manga.

Have not watched this, but just want to say one of the most annoying things about the previous anime show was trying not to spoil the show, even when you passed the spoiler warning it felt like everyone was holding back. My advice is, if you are going to be dropping spoilers off the bat, don't hold back.

Very exciting! I hope you guys explore some unknown anime that don’t get enough attention as well :) can’t wait!
