My personal GOTY as well. I don't even usually love lore-based storytelling, it's harder to pull off well and often feels overly obtuse and hard to remember the important stuff all the way through the game. Due to the excellent writing and the brilliant ship log, I always felt strongly aware of everything I had learned and curious for more. This is the first game that made me feel the way I did when I first got down to Ash Lake, and then it did it again several more times.

Fear not Ian, after seeing your enthusiasm during GOTY deliberation and now watching this video, I have purchased and started Outer Wilds. It's a little overwhelming at first, but I'm excited to explore everything.

I tried it for an hour and stopped because I feel like the game wastes my time by not telling me what to do and it wasn't fun to play. And I got it for free with Xbox Game Pass so it was an easy drop. But, Ian, you convinced me to give it another try. I doubt I'll go much further, but I'll still try to look at it from your angle.

First, I absolutely love this series and I've loved the unique styles that Ben, Jones and Ian bring to their videos. More like this please! Second, this video and the GOTY discussion have definitely convinced me to pick this game up after I finish Ace Combat 7.

I wanted EZA to make this exact video since May. But then I watched this and realized that it needed to come out long after the first wave of players. This is for the people that bounced or ignored the game until now. If they don't resonate with the out-of-context imagery in this video, I don't think they'll ever want to play. Anything more, and you'd spoil the discovery. Thanks a ton, Ian. Feels like our tastes diverge so much, and then you do this wonderful thing. Extra thanks for the musical progression. :) P.S. Come on, people. It's on Game Pass. Or just $25 elsewhere.

I started Outer Wilds back in December around Christmas and initially got frustrated the first time I had to start over. This video, on top of hearing Ian's passion for it over the last couple of podcasts and deliberations, slowly but legitimately made me excited to jump back in and dip my toes in a little at a time. Excellent Don't Skip, Ian! Thanks for not giving up on us.

Beautiful don't skip from Ian with a surprise drop at the end of personal picks. Great writing and VO in this and I'd absolutely love to watch more. I had only heard the Allies talk about this game but seeing this has basically made my mind up that I haave to play this.
