So the 'Official' poll was just responses compiled from 50 people? True, I did not participate myself, but big oof. Seems like a tiny weighted favorites list but I guess it is what it is.

Quite frankly, The Witcher 3 is a pretty easy call here.

The rules are entirely based on year of first release. Grand Theft Auto 4 released in 2008 so isn't eligible. I also wouldn't say the Playstation 4 era dominates. There are 12 games that are pre 2013, three of which are in the top 10, which is just about proportional. Just to be clear. This is an entirely secret vote that is collated and turned into a ranking. We didn't choose to put anything anywhere. We all had our own rankings and they were combined using nothing but points to give an overall ranking. We didn't choose for Dark Souls to go at 5 and Bloodborne at 2.

I personally did not vote. ...And frankly my overall list would be quite different. Honestly in some ways, (not to be harsh) the contents of this list and the majority of its order makes me a bit sad, and is a little disappointing. Let’s start with a hot take. I am going to say this and honestly I do not care what people here at Easy Allies think- “Breath of the Wild” is unnecessarily over praised, and should not be number 1. It was a great game no doubt, and I really enjoyed it, but it has MANY faults; too many to overlook, and is lucky if it cracks my Top 20. However I know there is a lot of people at Easy Allies that particularly enjoy The Legend of Zelda series, and everything Nintendo in general, so I am not surprised at the level of admiration this game gets. …But in my opinion, there is no way “Zelda Breath of the Wild” is higher than say for example, “Persona 5”; No way in Hell. “Persona 5” is such a better, tighter, well made game experience, from beginning to end. Also the list seems to be dominated by the PlayStation 4 era of technology versus the games released on PlayStation 3. For example “Uncharted 3”, "Grand Theft Auto 4", and Vanquish” completely deserve to have solid standing on this list and instead are strangely absent entirely. Not to mention on-going games like “Street Fighter IV” that came out in 2009, but were primarily updated from 2010 and on, should also be obviously taken into consideration for high list placement. Also we don’t need two “Souls” games in the top 5, I love them but that is just pretentious. Just pick “Bloodborne” and put it somewhere in there. ..And what the Hell, Why is “Journey” so low on the list, that is just insulting to the artistic integrity of the gaming medium. In truth I actually like a lot of the top ten, with a different order and a few very much need exchanges. For example I would put two of the most notorious games of the decade, “Mass Effect 2” & “Skyrim” even higher on the list. However to be fair to everyone, including myself, I take this list into account with “a grain of salt” so to speak. At the end of day every single person on the planet would have a different list, so you really can’t take it too personally if you don’t agree with what someone else thinks; or in this case- the collection of many opinions assembled. …Of course, when I look back at the games released over the decade, I am just overwhelmed by the magnificent level of quality & games we got to experience. …And I can not help but think that the next ten years might be even better.
