The YoVideoGames crew of Steve, Kenny, and Simmons enter the fray to discuss the recent announcement of Min Min from ARMS joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as the state of representation in Nintendo games, Smash's poor online netcode, and how the fighting game community is holding up during COVID-19.

My favourite episode. Let the conversation go where it’s gonna go.

Honestly probably one of my least favorite Friend Codes. I only listened to about half before I tuned out because I lost interest way too much talk about non-Smash fighting games. Not interested in hearing about Tekken and Injustice. A brief mention is fine but both got too much discussion time.

As someone who is lightly invested in the competitive smash community, I want to say this was a great episode, but I feel like some of the takes on Nintendo's support of the competitive community feel a bit dated. Nintendo has a long way to go to be at the level of any western esport or even many Japanese fighting games, but they have made major strides with Ultimate that it seems the Panel wasn't aware of. I noted in the YouTube comments with a correction about Sakurai attending EVO Japan, but some other examples are: Smash ultimate actually has a dedicated team for balance that appears to be paying very close attention to the competitive community, Nintendo is providing some light support for tournaments, and Sakurai even seems to be more conscious than ever of the competitive community by addressing a lot of really relevant information in the DLC character showcases. Nintendo and Sakurai still have a long way to go, but I think the panel may have overblown just how bad their support is.

One of the best episodes of Friend Code with some very interesting and important talks included. Still want Waluigi playable in Smash as a Fighter though. I guess they used Waluigi as "the example" for begging for any character to be added over fixing things like the online or the diversity of the cast, but it really just comes off as the age old one group hating the idea of Waluigi being added and finding every reason they can to tear the concept down and make the people asking for it look worse. Could've been applied to every other character people ask for too, not exclusively Waluigi. Although Waluigi is a good example of, no matter how much people beg for something, Nintendo might just refuse to do it anyway.

Animal Crossing New Horizons was directed by one, so I know they have some.

Nintendo needs to have female game developers
