Frame Trap EX - Paper Mario: The Origami King

We're trying something new with Frame Trap where we cut out a conversation from the latest episode and upload it as its own video. For the first one, we're focusing on Paper Mario: The Origami King. This format may grab additional attention that a full episode wouldn't. Let us know what you think!

Shane over at Siftd split up Pachter Fachter into smaller chunks and he said it tripled his Youtube revenue, so you might get more people willing to listen to you guys talk about a 20 minute clip on a specific beloved subject than a 3 hour podcast. I'm all for it, but I think you need to do something visually to note that it isn't a full Frame Trap. Maybe just a corner thing like Previews, Reactions, and Plays? Also, I wouldn't want them 'clogging up' my Patreon Feed.

It's not a thing I used for Easy Allies, but I look at clips from podcasts and streams CONsTANTLY for other channels I don't follow as closely. and in the past it has lead me to subbing on Twitch or giving some other sort of support. This is a great idea.

Sam Sorensen

Love that idea for expanding the audience

Dafydd Gape

I usually click on timestamps to specific discussions anyway, so I think this new format would be useful for me to catch discussions I could've missed.

Andrew Chalmers

I love this idea Damiani. I hope the other Allies will consider doing the same with their podcasts in the future. It has the potential to bring in a lot of new people who aren't interested in 1-3 hour long podcasts and just want a short bite of a specific subject. I hope it works out viewership wise. Good luck. Agreed with a couple of the above comments. A quick clip at the end with Ben talking to the camera and saying something like, "If you enjoyed this video, full episodes of Frame Trap with more long form discussions on what we're playing are released every other week. And if you're a patron of ours on Patreon.com, you can get access to them a few days early!" This is something you wouldn't need to film each time. Just film one and throw it onto the end of each EX video. And while I agree with the b-roll idea that Josh mentioned, I think this is something that should be added to the standard full episode -- not just the EX videos. Just some standard b-roll that would appear at certain points during each discussion below Ben and the guests, directly in front of the desk.

ZeoVGM

Maybe you should add a reference to the full episode at the end of this video.

Alexander Zyryanov

agree on Patreon it's going to be a lot of email spam.

This is a VERY good idea, buy what be even better in the future is if you find a way to add some b-roll.

Josh Read

Some gameplay B-roll mixed in relevant to whatever's being discussed at the moment would really help this as a standalone video, if the idea is to grab attention.

Daniel Matos

I'll echo what everyone else has said so far love this idea guys but maybe just post to YouTube and the name could throw some people off. Don't be afraid to keep trying new things guys L&R Allies

Brandon Zepeda

Great idea! Main suggestion would be to add "clips" or something into the thumbnail to clarify to a random scroller what this is. EX itself might be a little confusing, since I think most would assume it means "Extra" as opposed to "Excerpt," but that's up to you guys.

Good idea! I'm not in the shout out tier (must be nice), but maybe it would be good to at least put those who are in the description? Since they are supporting the show and all.

Such a good idea!!

swarmingbats

I think this is a great idea! It could really help bring in new people who don't know the Allies enough to watch a full podcast.

Varun Kachhwaha

Love the idea, I often don't have time for Frame Trap (barely keeping up with the regular podcast) but do occasionally tune in for specific game discussions, so this is perfect for me

Nicholas Poer

I do think this is a good idea, however as someone who loves listening to the full 5hr long Frame Trap episodes, it might be a bit of clutter. I would ask that you don't post these to the Patreon feed, kind of like how the reaction video cut outs are handled.

Arnesh Nagavalli

Can we take it one step further and combine all the 'caught in a frame trap' segments into one big game show video?

Andreas Kleanthous

My thoughts - throw it on YouTube but leave it off Patreon going forward. Clutters the feed with content I've already viewed

Jason Rumsey

Ben Hanson style haha I love it !

Sekiro505

I got baited I thought this was the new Friend Code episode lol!
