Questions for The Mandalorian S2 Spoiler Mode

The finale of Season 2 of The Mandalorian has arrived. Not all of us have seen it yet, and we advise you to stay as far away from social media (and this post) if you haven't either. We're going to be gathering Saturday afternoon to chat about it (and posting ASAP after) and would love to hear what thoughts you have after such a wild season full of big moments. Leave your questions or comments here and we'll get through as many as we can.

- Brandon

You should watch Breaking Bad!

We're going to record in less than an hour, so I'm going to cut off questions/comments here. Thank you to everyone that submitted! I'm looking forward to replying. - Brandon

The last scene was great, but I was bother by the cgi in luke’s face, do guys think that is time to cast someone else for the role?? Also, could this mean that luke will have a more constant role in any of the upcoming disney+ shows?

noel

What do you thinik of the involvement of Luke in this lore? Although I loved those scenes, I don't like the fact that they keep returning to the Skywalkers... This galaxy is so big, can't we just have an original story. Some nods are ok, but now... But still, I love the show.

Felipe Fonseca

What do you think of Cara Dune (played by Gina Carano)? I personally think her acting has been poor in almost every scene, and every episode she is in suffers for it. To make matters worse, her character's plot armor was distractingly apparent in the finale with her rifle jamming in the middle of a firefight. Am I just being overly critical?

Jason Flood

Episode 2 & 4 were awful, I'd say season 1 was better and didn't rely on too much fan service. Though the finale was still pretty cool.

Isolated Reverie

How lacking in tension most of the fights are. Usually fighting stormtroopers who are so incompetent who I could probably beat up and they always aim for his armor? Moff Gideon has an insane weapon that can cut through anything! Except the armor the main character wears... Also the main threat the finale is building up to was taken out by an OK deepfake.

Isolated Reverie

I thought the way Luke showed up at the end was really cool, as in his fight as well as how they revealed him, do you agree? Given where Luke eventually ends up in episode 8, I mean in terms of his attitude towards training Jedi, do you have any thoughts about what this will mean for Grogu? In that sense, how do you like Luke Skywalker being the Jedi to come pick him up? Do you think season 3 will continue mostly with multiple Mandalorions? Or will it set off generally with Din by himself again? How do you think season 3 will continue the story? My bet is on a retaking of Mandalor, although I'm not sure, as Din doesn't seem to have a big stake in this personally. Also, I'm expecting grand admiral Thrawn. I'm sorry if I asked any double questions, some commenters seemed to have similar questions but they were also not quite the same I felt.

LukeW

What was your favorite episode of the season and why? The second season was full of great episodes but I really liked how masterfully executed the Episode 5 (The Jedi) was. Beginning with Ahsoka's brilliant introduction to learning more about The Child and having exciting action sequences around the story bits. It revealed enough intriguing information about the characters to give them depth and still managed to leave me hungry to know more about them. The episode felt like it was perfectly balanced between the quiet moments and spectacular battle scenes.

Hey, Allies! So I personally really enjoyed the second season. Maybe even more than the first. And when viewed on it’s own merits, I think it’s great. However, I cant help but feel very disappointed about how it majorly tied back to the other shows and movies. One of my biggest gripes with Star Wars as a franchise is that despite it being set in literal galaxies, it always ties back to the same characters and conflicts. And so I found the first season of this show very refreshing as it was its own, self-contained story with only small references to the rest of the franchise. But now, it’s pulled right back in. And it just feels like Star Wars can’t escape it’s own established mythology to make something truly new and refreshing. What are your thoughts on this topic?

K

Hey guys, what did u think Bill Burrs cameo? I only know him as a comedian therefore, I don't really think of him as an actor. It could be that he stands out of the big cameo crowd, just because he isn't in full costume, but I'm curious what you think.

Andre Wessels

I feel like this season had a lot of great “moments”. What was your guys favorite? I personally thought that bill burr‘s Conversation with his old commanding officer was incredible. Shout out to Bill burr for maybe having the best acted moment of the entire season. Pretty good for a guy who doesn’t even like Star Wars.

Sage_Mode_Q

Do you think Grogu will be back in season 3 or do you think his role is finished for the time being?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how great is it that Bill Burr came back?

Logan Tawse

Can Dave Filoni be next in line after Biden to get the COVID vaccine? He’s a national treasure & should be protected at all costs.

Did you stay tuned past the credits?

Will Kara Thrace ever escape the Toasters?

With so many new shows on the horizon which one are you all most excited for? If you could pitch a Star Wars series to Disney any stories that you'd be dying to see told in this format?

What do you think of the way Disney era Star Wars handles the empire? I feel like they are usually dumb cartoon bad guys that you're kind of supposed to laugh at but it really takes me out of it personally.

Matt Lopez

Im kind of nervous after the spiderman miles morales spoiler. You had one person who played the game and came off as meh and another person with more knowledge was a movie. Other then that im excited where they take star wars next year and seeing more of the animated characters coming to live action side. What a great way to show off Boba Fett instead of a guy getting hit in the back by a blind guy and falling into a sarlic pit.

What do you think of the theory that season 3 of "The Mandalorian" will be about Boba Fett? The post credits scene says the "Book of Boba Fett", and each episode is titled "Chapter". Maybe Seasons 1-2 were the book of "Din Djarin"?

Steve S

Have you thought about what happens in the sequel films with Luke's training temple being destroyed by Kylo Ren, and do you think Grogu would have been there when it was? Do you think he'll turn up again in a future season perhaps, having left the temple before? I loved the ending, but then realising what happens after was a bit of a gut punch.

Varun Kachhwaha

One of the best composers working today, love how he has own unique sound as well.

Varun Kachhwaha

Thoughts on the dubstep darktroopers? :P

Alec Church

She basically time traveled at the of Rebels. So she missed events of OT. No I'm not joking.

Alec Church

Best Star War in a loooong time.

Toph

Favorite cameo?

JRMX

Not really a question, just talk about Boba Fett. :D

Hello Allies, I think The Book of Boba Fett teased at the end is actually a teaser for season three of The Mandolorian, not a new show. People keep glossing over the fact the each episode of Mandolorian is reffered to as a chapter. I believe this finale was the end of Mando's book, and now we're getting the start of a whole new book with Boba Fett. Wondering what your thoughts on this possibility are. Would you rather have a whole new show for Boba and Fennec, or would you be okay with their story being a continuation of The Mandolorian? L&R, L.E.L

ssps87

Which of the various Star Wars projects announced are you looking forward to the most? Obi-Wan? Andor? Boba Fett? Something else...?

Simon Wallace

Hello Allies, where do you think Din's character is going in future seasons or other shows? Do you think he'll assume the role of ruler of Mandalore now that he has the right to the Darksaber?

Samuel Hall

I think the cloning was to create Snokes, unfortunately

Samuel Hall

How do you feel about the characterisation of Boba Fett? In the movies he was a quintessential villain, he was a villain in Clone Wars and suddenly he's an honourable stand up guy? It does feel like a strange leap of logic.

I am not sure if they mentioned the name of his fleet in Rebels but in legends its the 7th fleet and we have seen emblems of the 7th fleet, do you think Gideon was working forThrawn since he had just a light cruiser? How quickly do you think we will see Thrawn or more evidence of him in next season since Gideon is captured?

Should CGI be used to make older actors look younger or would you rather see a recast? Personally I find the CGI to be distracting most of the time so I would be okay with a recast.

Victor Pham

What were your overall impressions of Luke’s return and the fact that Mark Hamill was able to reprise the role? I thought he looked and sounded great and got chills seeing young Luke on screen again dominating as a Jedi. They could have taken in what my opinion would have been the easier route in having the Jedi to answer Grogu’s call be Ezra or Cal Kestis. After wrapping up the Skywalker saga I didn’t believe Favreau or Disney would go with Luke, but the payoff was immaculate. Also I wish we got to see Boba Fetts reaction to seeing Luke as he sort of had a hand in creating the chaos that led to his ahem...Sarlacc incident.

What do you think Disney can learn from success of this season and mandalorian as a whole for its film strategy?

Cabbagelad

What do you think of the sidelining of the film’s main characters? Not only are Luke and Ahsoka minor characters, but the Jedi aren’t the main focus despite being the “core” of the franchise. Is this the beginning of a new chapter of the franchise or an ill-planned abandonment of the space wizards everyone loves?

Duff

ludwig balling out of his mind on this and tenet, best out there

sam

Do you think Favreau and Filoni will bring Baby Yoda back into the show or do they have the guts to leave him out? I'm of the opinion that, eventually, Mando will go pick him up again. Spoilers for the Rise of Kylo Ren comic but Grogu wasn't there when the academy was destroyed. Of course that could be a ret con.

Olf Himself

Boba is a clone of Jango. Who else would play him?

Olf Himself

Agreed. I think it's just the name of season 3.

Olf Himself

I just watched chapter 16 and I don't have a question I'm just so full of star wars love and happiness right now and you guys are doing a spoiler mode and HELL YEAH!

Daniel Murray

For me, the most impressive thing The Mandalorian has done is to get me to care and be excited about Star Wars again.

Will Kyle Katarn appear in season 3? I was hoping that he would answer the call, but actually teared up when it was Luke! Granted, Luke looks a lot like in Episode VI, but also like he looks in the games 😊 I the cloning just a callback to Episode II or also a foreshadowing of the emperors clones and/or Starkiller?

Project D.A.D.

Do you like the pacing of the show, overall? I feel like so much happens, yet at the same time, it takes forever for anything to happen. I know they're trying to have an episodic "Lone Wolf and Cub" feel to the show. But would you want them to change up the formula next season? I.E. - Go to planet, do a sidequest, learn something important, go to next planet, repeat.

Spunkmire

So for me personally one of the biggest highlights this season wasn't that amazing cameo. Wasn't the tease post credits. Wasn't even the emotions felt seeing so much of the animated world come to live action. The music this season was on a whole other level compared to season 1. Wanted to know your thoughts on that. L&R Ken

Ken Lutz

Bro spoiler. Darn, and I've been trying to stay off Twitter too. :(

Spunkmire

Season 1 showed incredible restraint in not dipping too heavily into the Star Wars lore. It barely even mentioned "the Force" or Jedi or the like. It had a few key nods for people to latch on to, but for the most part it very much seemed to be taking an outsider's perspective to the broader Star Wars canon. Season 2, on the other hand, felt like it was cashing in its chips and finally giving all the nods and nudges that season 1 resisted. How do you feel about this? FWIW, I feel like it was done masterfully; season 1's restraint earned them the right to open the floodgates here, because it let Din and the Child develop into characters that could stand on their own merits, and then brought the rest of the Star Wars world to them. And when it did bring that world to them, it did it through the more lovingly crafted expanded stuff (thank Filoni!). Do you agree? Do you think they should have done it sooner? Later? Not at all? And what do you think this means for the series going forward? I am assuming that this is Din's story going forward and that Grogu (and, therefore, the rest of Jedi stuff - with all the upcoming baggage that would entail) will only pop up occasionally if at all. But will all of the other spinoff content coming through new series, I'm not sure what they'll want to focus each on.

Bradley Spies

What are your thoughts on Temuera Morrison playing both Jango and Boba Fett? I was honestly confused at first.

Jordan Buitendyk

Its been a huge improvement over the first season for me. Even without all the really well-handled fan service throughout, i thought the vibe was just nailed throughout and it felt so nice just luxuriating in the Star Wars Universe again without stupid elements constantly popping up to yank me back out. Even the more side-questy stuff like the Alien Spiders episode just felt like top notch adventures. On the down side, some clunky dialogue and pacing here and there, and a bit of dodgy acting, but only in small doses. Abrams and Johnson have been shown, This is indeed the way! L&R Ian (Manchester UK)

Hey Allies! Wanted to get your thoughts on "The Book of Boba Fett" coming out next December, the previously announced Mando Season 3 release date. After what we just saw in this finale I'm in the camp that the Boba "show" IS Mando season 3, what do you think?

How did you feel about Luke Skywalker’s sudden cameo at the end? Did you expect to see him at all or was it a surprise for you? Would you prefer if it was any other jedi instead?

WTF was Ahsoka doing during the events of the original Trilogy? Might have been helpful to have a fully trained Jedi Knight.

Sean Dupree

anyone else just think what this means to grogu from knights of ren?!
